Patrick Williams:

quote:

The former Seminole is a 6’8, 225-lb forward with a seven-foot wingspan. Pair that with good shooting mechanics, explosion, above-average athleticism, defensive versatility and the fact that he’s the second-youngest player in this draft class, it’s difficult to not be convinced the Pelicans should grab him at the 13th pick.

Kira Lewis:

quote:

Other than pure talent level and basketball IQ, one of the primary differences between collegiate and professional basketball play is the speed at which the game is played. Evaluators, coaches and players would all share the same sentiment — the NBA is much, much faster.

With that said, Lewis is one of, if not the fastest player in this year’s draft class. Looking at his style of play, it’s clearly reminiscent of his predecessor from the Alabama Crimson Tide, Collin Sexton.

Lewis not only took over games at the collegiate level, he’s got plenty of the tools to be successful in the NBA. Athleticism, ball-handling, gets to the rim, can create shots for himself when necessary and he plays always plays at 110 percent. Given how the Pelicans played in the bubble, they could use some of that.

Aleksej Pokusevski

quote:

The Serbian 7-footer is so smooth with his ball-handling and jump-shot that, in his overseas play, he’s been labelled a shooting guard at times.

Pokusevski earned the majority of his recognition playing in the FIBA U18 European Championships, putting up 10 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.7 steals and 4 blocks in 25 minutes per game. Talk about do-it-all.

Plenty more give it a read and discuss.

Would be ok with either of those two at 13. I know we always look at the SF, but Williams and Kira are also positions of need, and i like both of them.
Not interested in Poku at 13. Way too much risk with him to be picked that early.

Don’t want anymore projects. Lewis is the only option out of the 3 for me.

Can Patrick Williams play the 3 or is he a small 4?

Yeah, his tape has been very underwhelming to me. Seems like a draft-and-stash candidate more than a top-15 pick.

Definitely yes in my opinion

Not gonna pretend I have done anywhere close to even basic due diligence on scouting this year, that said, Poku does intrigue me in general. His skillset, if it develops to potential, is pretty crazy.

Of course mocks have him in the top 15 and some in the second round(which maybe that makes more sense, or selling some of our excess to move up in the second and get a high reward guy like that as a stash), so what do I know lol. But with the unorthodoxy of Zion as our centerpiece, having a guy that can serve as a future ball handling shooter in a four out lineup around Zion, but also has some length and good rebounding, makes a good deal of sense.

I could love with Williams, but there are far more players I would be thrilled with.

Want nothing to do with Poku.

I think he will be able to play some 3, but he’s the definition of a tweener. I don’t feel great about his ability to defend your more athletic wings. He reminds me of a Morris twin, or someone like that

I'm not sure how effective Williams can be switching onto guards, so that may limit his ability to play the 3 for long stretches.

I would expand on this even more and say he lacks lateral quickness, but his footwork and positioning also need a lot of work. I would venture to say if you ask him to defend the perimeter early in his career you’re asking for trouble.

Another thing I just can’t get past, he’s really stiff and robotic. After watching Aminu for all those years I’m just not that interested.

What he said.

I'm on board with all three of these guys. I really like both Kira and PWill. I'm ok with Poku if the draft pans out certain ways.

The dream is to grab Poku and Riller. A project with tons of potential, and a damn baller ready to hoop

I would love to draft Williams at 13th and then trade back into the first round and grab Poku if he is there between the 20-25 range.

Gone back and looked at Williams a lot and i'm still not sure what he's good at.

He won't come into the league with many NBA skills. Most guys have to improve their game to succeed in the NBA. Williams will have to develop entire skill sets that aren't there at all, to make it.

If you want a guy with potential I think there are numerous better options than Poku.

Watching highlights of the 3:

Lewis >> Williams > Poku

Poku has a really high ceilings, but a very low floor. I also think he's less likely to reach his ceiling than Lewis. Williams seems like the least sexy of the picks. Lowest ceiling, but a much higher floor than Poku.

I’d be happy with any of these 3. I feel like Williams fills the most obvious need, Lewis is the most likely to be good and fills a lesser need, Poku has the most talent - dude could be an absolute superstar. I think Vassel would be my pipe dream.
