Just more fodder:
From twitters:
LINK
Kevin Garnett: "First off, Zion [Williamson] is a generational talent... Motherf**kers was patient with [Joel] Embiid and Giannis."
Paul Pierce: "I don't really agree that he's a generational talent."
KG: "You're f**king crazy."

Also said that the relationship between the org and Zion has been more strained over the last few months...it's all for negotiation at this point. May not happen but I don't exactly believe anything in the media regarding this at this point.

All BS right now. Rumors that Blazers dont want to trade too. Watch it all change tomorrow lol
Tomorrow’s headlines will be Portland has multiple trade offers for #3 and they are mulling them over. Pelicans have put together a trade package but have made it clear Ingram is not available in any of them.
Thursday’s headlines will be “Pelicans really want Scoot Henderson and have made Brandon Ingram available in trade talks to get him.”
This whole time the smoke has been around Zion and how “unavailable” Ingram is, that’s not how teams posture, I believe it’s the opposite, Zion is the one unavailable because Griff would not sell an asset for a pennies on the dollar.

The Will Guillory cat is best known for saying “Hi, this is Will Guillory, from the Athletic” before every single question to players he’s already met and talked to over 100 times, more than he is known for providing actual scoops.

Ingram makes more sense in everyway but culture. If you ignore off court and culture, you trade Ingram especially financially. At the end of the day, whether people want to consider it or not the new CBA is a big deal. The pels historically have known to worry about financial matters. People argue 2 year window but lets be honest our group healthy all together has not been in playoffs yet. It will take this group more than 2 years to win it all if thats your goal. Why I think Griff might try to pull the trigger here.

pretty good analysis of both morant & zion here LINK
quote:
Taken together, Williamson and Morant’s current odysseys are a reminder of what, in most cases, is actually likely when a young man of modest origins suddenly acquires heaps of money and fame: nothing good. Morant’s historic parallel is an easy one—Allen Iverson. But to understand Williamson, we might need to get more mythical; think Tom Hanks in Big. He is a gigantic fish-out-of-water, flailing through his own late-adolescent wreckage. As word has it, he was raised in a highly controlled way, which enticed him into the lore of fantastical realms that can be enjoyed indoors—namely Anime. Last year, he appeared at San Diego’s Comic Con to read live from a popular Manga series that he loves.
The transition from enforced imaginative solitude to blank-check worldmaking powers is not one anyone should experience rapidly, and certainly not at an age at which most people are at their dumbest and most reckless. In short time, Williamson has gone from Dr. Strange reader to Dr. Strange. He can manifest whatever desire he likes, and he is. Most media members have declined to describe what this actually means, and this column will be no exception; you can search for information on his personal adventures in less formal internet spaces if you like, but you are advised not to do so on a workplace computer.

Seriously, what do they mean by generational talent?
In my mind, that means the most talented player in a 18-20 year span. There are just too many players that overlap with one another. Is Zion more talented than Giannis?

The Athletic just put out a tweet saying its unlikely that Zion will be traded and even more unlikely that Ingram will be traded. Whatever that means.
It means that any offers floated for either aren’t enough to make us bite.

Having seen his choice, I don’t think he was bargaining very well.

Huh? Regardless of how well they may or may not fit, it is a better fit than Tatum and Brown. They are essentially the same player which is one of the bigger reasons they can’t win shite with probably the most talented roster in the NBA. You aren’t getting full value out of Brown if Tatum has the ball in his hands the majority of the time.

You have to clarify arguments about when teams or players cant win shite. Im assuming winning for you means championships. But both of those players have made the finals and multiple deep playoff appearances. So saying they cant win shite- well thats kind of BS.

Would you rather 10 Western Conference championships or 1 Finals Championship? It’s a simple answer to me.

That Dame threat is real. They’re owner is trying to sell, easier to do with Dame and Zion on team. Portland really doesn’t want to rebuild.
Isn’t their owner refusing to sell? Phil Knight desperately wants to buy the Balzers, but Paul Allen’s sister is not entertaining his offers.

Personally I want the 1 championship but I wouldnt say its utter failure constantly going deep in playoffs either. Thats like completely discrediting those years. For instance, I loved the CP3 playoff years.

IIRC, Paul Allen’s will states that the team has to be sold within X years regardless of whether she wants to keep it.

Yeah its a weird situation technically she has to sell but Jody says they can sell whenever. I also wonder if she looking for a higher bidder. For some reason she wont even engage with Phil Knight. Relocation is also being brought up, Knight wouldnt relocate either but maybe other owners maybe would. Just a really weird situation. But technically she needs to sell at some point.

It’s part of his estate that will be liquidated and donated to charity, but there is no explicit timetable for selling. Apparently Jody wants to stretch out her rule as executor of the estate for 20 years or so.
