Biggest X Factor?

Who is the biggest X factor for you guys? And since that could have many interpretations, lets ask it using this definition:
- The Person whose past shows a range of various outcomes and/or solely negative outcomes that could have a big impact if he has his best possible (within the scope of reason) season. Or close to it.
Nominees:
Elfrid Payton
Solomon Hill
Jahlil Okafor
Frank Jackson
Cheick Diallo
I leave Moore, Clark and Miller off because I think they are who they are. Expecting a wide swing in any direction doesn't seem realistic. So, what say you?

I want to say Frank Jackson, but I guess I have to go with Elfrid Payton.

payton no questions...a whole lot hinges on his positive impact

without a doubt Payton. and i say it more for defensive purposes than offense. If he can pick up the defensive effort, and play smart team defense, that will go a long way on this team. He's not asked to do much on offense other than be efficient, meaning don't turn the ball over, and don't take stupid shots.
We have no idea who Frank Jackson is. He could be a huge factor, but we have no clue what he's capable of to gauge that level of factorability.

I guess Frank, because he has the biggest upside of any of the listed players.

Payton, then Randle.
Payton pretty obvious and probably going to disappoint re: expectations Pels fans have.
Randle is much more interesting to me. Can he defend the rim/paint effectivley? How do he and Davis interact on offense- is there too much overlap or is Davis forced to be more of a perimeter player on offense? Can he be a quality secondary playmaker for others in this system?

I think Clark can have a huge impact on this season. His numbers after Boogie went down were individually excellent and his lineup numbers after Boogie went down were spectacular as well. If he can maintain that level of impact instead of the below average/borderline NBA player numbers he showed in the first half of the season, the Pels will have a steal of a 3rd guard on their hands.

Using your criteria it has to be Solo for me. How many years is it that we've begged for a competent SF. If he can just be serviceable we're a 50 win team.

Jrue holiday, if he can step up from being an above average player to being the great player we saw at the end of last season and playoffs, pelicans gonna win 50+ games

By your definition, Solomon hill. He would have the minutes to make the biggest impact at a position of great need

here's the problem, to me.
diallo and okafor are not NBA players, they should not be getting minutes on a good team (ie: should not be on this roster). jackson is a rookie.
so we have hill & payton (and...:shudder: ajinca) with shitty recent history that we need to get some positive contribution from. Hill's minutes should be minimal anyway, and ajinca is a distant memory.
so its payton, if payton doesnt bring it for 28-30 mins a nite we are in trouble

what your question?
he played himself out of the league and took a 2 year non-guaranteed minimum deal here. no other team wanted him. he's as close to being defunct as an NBA payer as you can get
just because he can occasionally score the ball doesnt make him a player worth paying and playing. he'll likely make the roster by default, which says more about how thin this team is than it does about okafor
i'd much rather that roster spot go to a young big with a chance to get better
