re: BI posts 2 triple doubles (1st 2 in his career) in 3 games - trade him while he's high?

Yes because he has more upside.
He doesn’t play. He can’t shoot(yet). His play style leads to injury. His size leaves him subject to non calls. Non calls leads to short term and long term wear and tear. Anthony Bennett played more in his 4 years in the league.
You can’t build around a player who plays 25 percent of games in 4 years. Most of that coming in year 2.
Love Zion, but availability is an ability he lacks.

Higher upside/higher risk is better than low risk/no title contending upside

Yeah, I don't want to be the next Lillar/CJ Blazers or Gobert/Mitchell Jazz.
Winning 50 games and getting bounced in the second round doesn't appeal to me.
I want to legit go for a title or flame out trying.
Zion is the only chance of a title imo. He either adapts and works on his fitness/game and we make a run or he doesn't and we don't.
Trading him our ceiling is becoming the Kings. A good team with zero chance of winning it all because they have two good not great players.

What has Philly won? When’s the last time they were even in the Conference Finals? Isn’t Embiid hurt every year in the playoffs?

If BI keeps passing like this. Only guy I’d think about trading BI for is Luka

Not for nothing, but Utah Jazz from Stockton to Malone era until now are pretty much a model franchise with a great fanbase that consistently supports them.
It’s not ideal, but long term success for the Pelicans would be 5 straight playoff/50 win seasons. Hell a conference finals appearance would be considered the best team this franchise has ever had.
A title would be the best of course. But I don’t subscribe to the Miami Marlins business model of winning a title then being terrible for far longer. That’s just me though.

I'd rather win one title and suck for 10 years than be good for 10 and never win one.

We've also learned these last 2 seasons we are about a 35 win team, give or take, when BI is our best player.
No we haven’t learned that, only you Shel. Correct answer is Pels are a playoff caliber team with BI or Zion, capable of streaking against poor to middling teams with occasional wins against good teams. With BI or Zion there is minimal success against elite teams.
With both BI and Zion available the team has had signature wins against elite teams (albeit not a big sample), and look to have the makings of the team Pel fans want them to be. This is ok, as the team is young and building, it shouldn’t be expected to be a linear path.
Im rooting for the Pels, and if they get it (success) in another way than I envisioned, Im cool with it. Let the season play out and ride with them All. Should stop doubling and tripling down on obvious bad takes and see things for what they are.

Tell me who or what you’re trading him for? No way you get value for him. I’d rather keep him even if he plays 70% of the games.

Never doesn’t equal 10 years…but would you rather win 2 in 20 while sucking in between or one in 20 while being good for 12 of said years?

Let’s start with winning 1
frick, if we won 1, I’d probably be happy forever more.
Have already had 20 years of not much… to win one and then have another 20 years of nothing would be fine by me!

Philly has 50 wins and is a legit title contender this season. We are a 10 games below .500 team with BI as a #1.
Again, I don't get why we're still arguing BI can be a #1. That window has closed, we should all recognize that and be in agreement that to move forward to maximize success, it does NOT mean without BI, but it does mean with BI not as our #1. How are we not all in agreement on that?

Correct answer is Pels are a playoff caliber team with BI or Zion
If you are a legit #1 in today's NBA, there is no 1 player on your team that gets hurt that should make you a 10 game below .500 team. If that happens, you are not a #1

Sure but I wouldn't get terribly excited about back to back seasons of being 10 games below .500 ball without our best player.
We’re showing steady improvement and I’ll take that, especially given our team’s history. This year (as of now) we’re above .500.

The best chance we have as a title is healthy Zion + healthy BI. Trading either of them is very, very unlikely to raise your ceiling.

Agreed. To be a 1 on a championship team you have to be arguably the best player in the league that year. Even prime KD couldn’t win a championship w/o Steph.

Okay, but you are not JUST subtracting Zion. The idea for trading either is to get a piece that fits better. This roster is built around Zion's strengths, not BI's. I think it would be easier to balance a roster around Zion because he fills so many holes in the Z-chart, but that also means your Z-chart is heavily dependent on his availability.
Our absolute ceiling is dependent on Zion's health. If he is healthy and Batman Prime, I don't see how you are able to acquire a better Robin than BI. shite, we almost have 2 Batmans with those 2.

We haven't really shown much improvement without Zion.
Last season we were 36-46 without Zion. This season we are 22-26, which is the equivalent of a 37 win team.
