I can't see how the Pels don't have depth next year and moving forward. They are going to get so much from AD and will actually have their own pick in the draft plus the time they are giving Frank, Jah and K Will now -- they might have TOO MUCH depth

True but if these last few games have taught us and maybe even them anything is that scoring isn't the issue if jrue and a bunch of guys can do what they're doing.

Agree. Points is the easiest thing to replace and that has always been the case.

That's why Etwaun needs to get moved, even if it's just for a 2nd. I feel like he's just not going to be useful for us next year on the court, and even if he is useful, I don't want him getting minutes over younger guys. And I like Etwaun.

Any of you guys think Kawhi leaves Toronto if they bomb early in the playoffs?

Would love to see him and Jrue play together and we could become a defensive training ground. With the right shooting coach that could be a squad and a half.

They are getting zero quality offers for Moore. They would happily take an expiring and a mid to late 2nd. Can't even get that

Well there is points and there is points.

Meaning how you score them to me is as important as how much your score. Some models are sustainable and winning basketball.

Are we scoring efficiently? Are we making 3s at a high percentage level to set up easier scoring in the paint? Are we scoring in transition on easy buckets?

We have no shot whatsoever at Kawhi. Ever.

I think you also need to factor in the fact that whatever production Tatum/Brown/etc. currently give you in Boston, you'll get about 75% of that in New Orleans

Lower team expectations.. worse supporting cast.. horrific training staff..

I agree. I'd go lower usage guys who can impact the game without taking or making shots. My fear is that this team acquires too much talent that impact the game most by scoring

So if you play more lower guys who don't take shots then you easily frame out who's going to always be going for the points in your scheme.

In just a game theory sense, I don't like that. They can improve the efficiency of the team by teaching players to assess their situations better aka Rondo-esq film study as a team.

they need a bruiser with a death stare...harrell fits.
they need a facilitator with IQ and vision.
they need a rim protector.
they need a volume shooter without conscience.

Smart-Jrue-Brown-Tatum-Rim Protector is an interesting lineup that could be special defensively while still playing uptempo.

That's the thing they need to figure out, and to a certain degree they kind of need to figure it out now. If they trade Tatum/Smart/Brown for just AD the Pels will have negligible cap space if they plan to keep Niko too. They'd pretty much be limited to the MLE. I'm just not sure what kind of rim protection you're going to get with the MLE. So then the question becomes do you do a "save a team money" trade like Ajinca for Wes Johnson using Solo? Solo for Biyombo for instance?

BUT, if Solo for Biyombo is the likely way you plug that hole, for the love of God why aren't you doing Randle/Moore for Biyombo and a 1st now? I get the Pels wanting to have as clean of a slate as possible for the next GM, but it just feels like where the team is at more assets would be better than a cleaner slate.

figures. You look at his stats and he looks similar to last year, but watching him this year, he doesn't look like he did last year. I think he's had some lingering injuries all year. He doesn't appear as aggressive and confident as last year, although he didn't look that good in the playoffs either.

It’s time for News Orleans to build a team like Utah and Denver. Use that blueprint to put together a team. We don’t need or want players who don’t want to be here. Draft smart, develop your guys, and trade for players who will come to your team for the right reasons.

I don't believe you can re-train high usage guys to be lower usage guys unless you are winning at a massive clip.

If you aren't winning 60-70% of your games, guys will start to look out for themselves and their numbers if they think that scoring will get them their next big paycheck.

The Pels won't win at a clip like that, so they need to get guys who believe their paycheck will be determined by the other things they do.

We're talking about getting a rim protector with a death stare, not one who cries on national tv b/c he didn't make the all star team.

I kid, but I agree with a team build in that mold. Both of those team, Toronto as well, have been making solid picks in the draft and finding contributors. AD is the only guy on the team currently that we drafted, and i'm not counting Miller b/c he had to get better in Europe, not with us.
That needs to change going forward.

I don't know man. Tatum and Brown looked like world beaters in the postseason last year. All of a sudden they're behind Irving and sharing time with Gordon Hayward, and they come back down to earth. Not saying production will definitely improve, but some of these younger players are certainly going to be more comfortable with the ball in their hands earlier in their careers.
