Damian Lillard Joins Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram in New Orleans
New Orleans Pelicans Receive: PG Damian Lillard

Portland Trail Blazers Receive: SG Nickeil Alexander-Walker, PG Lonzo Ball (via sign-and-trade), C Jaxson Hayes, 2021 first-round pick, 2022 first-round pick (via Los Angeles Lakers), 2023 first-round pick, 2023 first-round pick swap rights with Los Angeles Lakers

There may be no team better prepared to form the next superteam than New Orleans.

The Pelicans already have an all-world talent in Zion Williams, an All-Star small forward in Brandon Ingram and are flush with draft picks and young talent stemming from the Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday trades.

They should also be aggressive this offseason when looking to add talent, as this is a group that needs to start making the playoffs to keep everyone happy.

If he requests a trade this summer, Lillard would be a perfect fit in New Orleans.

Lillard, Williamson and Ingram together would soon rival Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving for the best offensive trio in the NBA, especially if Williamson (27.0 points on 61.1 percent shooting) continues his incredible rise.

Lillard would also have the greatest roster he's ever been surrounded with, including Steven Adams setting hard screens and Eric Bledsoe taking on the toughest defensive assignment every night.

Portland will likely only trade Lillard if he asks out and could quickly rebuild on the fly with this package from New Orleans.

Lonzo Ball (14.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.5 steals) would be a good fit next to CJ McCollum with his size and defensive chops, Alexander-Walker has star potential, and Hayes could be Portland's center of the future with Jusuf Nurkic entering the final year of his contract.

The Blazers also get New Orleans' lottery pick in the 2021 draft, two additional future firsts and the right to swap firsts with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2023 if they want.

Thoughts ( at the part about Bledsoe and Adams)

Why would Dame want to join a team coached by Stan Van Gundy?

The problem with that trade is it gives away all of our near term picks and players except for Kira. On the one hand that's good in that it'd leave you a slimmed down warchest as Lillard ages. On the other hand you'd have minimal paths to cheap depth to fill out the roster. You'd have to keep hitting on guys like Naji and Didi.

I'd try to spread the picks out some and keep NAW. Also, we aren't giving that much up and still having Bledsoe on the roster.

If you can get a player like Dame its worth getting rid of that war chest

They could get better offers than naw, Hayes, and ball.

Sign me the f up for that though.

Let Kira learn from dame. Re-sign hart. Find a stretch big. You'd be set.

I do that trade every day of the week.

Don't like giving up both hayes and naw but you have too.

Seems like the pels would get another decent player back.

Lonzo would also have to agree to the sign and trade.

Yep, that's a good deal less than I expect it would take.

If only 2 of NAW/Hayes/Kira, I imagine we'll probably need twice as many 1sts, and I'd still be down for that

Anyone have an idea of what those 2 dudes may go for in free agency?

I like Portis, dude gets buckets which is something we sorely lacked last season. Outside of Zion/BI, we legit had not a single player who could go out and get a bucket. I like NAW to be that guy in the future, but he was inefficient last season, though we got a glimpse towards the end of the season of what he could do.

Burks got a 1 year 6mil deal last season. I would think he played himself into the 8-10mil range.

Portis had a 2year 8 mil deal, he probably bumps into the 7-10mil a year range too after his career best shooting season.

Guys that got that range per year last offseason starting at 10mil and down to 7mil; Rodney Hood, Milsap, Crowder, Favors, T. Thompson, Ibaka, Jones Jr, Harrell, M. Leonard, Saric, Poeltl, Rondo, J. Green, R.Lopez, Bayes, Augustin

I'd spend my money on burks over portis.

Kinda crazy how deep that bucks team is. Portis barely plays

You’d definitely have to use every second round pick to try and strike gold to get some role players.

Honestly the reason we struggled this season was depth. We are not lucky like big markets to get cheap fill ins.

I would prefer to keep Lonzo and send out Bledsoe.

Yeah it would be tough to give up Hayes and NAW. I’d rather replace them in the trade with Kira and additional picks.

If they really want 1 of Hayes or NAW, it would be really tough to decide between the 2 of them. I think I’d want to keep Hayes because he has the ability to cover up defensively for Bi, Dame, and Z trio. Also anytime you can pair an vertical lob threat with Harden, Trae, Dame type players, it’s curtains for the defense. It would make Dame even more lethal than he already is imo.
