I feel like she initially was fond of owning a team until she realized the cost of actually competing and the luxury tax. I don't think she knew what she was getting into

Yes. Several times, and know people who have dealt with her quite a bit albeit more before her marriage.

I agree . She is not fundamentally a bad person . She has no background in cutthroat business . She was in debt as an interior decorator , then she met Tom . She does need a new front office , though .

She did that though it was easy. All Gayle had to do is act the gold digger role to Rita and it was just a matter of time until a coked up Rita would lose control emotionally. That happened during that fatelful shake and arm pull and the Saints/Pels were Gayle’s new playground.
We the fans have paid the price as both franchises have bottom 2-3 talent and are the worst run in pro sports.
There is little doubt Rita, though certifiably bat shite crazy would have both franchises today on better ground.

Rita was insane and neither league would have approved her as owner. Gayle has many faults as an owner but there are many worse owners in NFL and NBA. She is average but mentally stable. Rita could not have run both teams

So, if you were a billionaire and bought this team for $2B, how much of a loss are you willing to take every year? How much are you coming out of pocket?
The problem with this debate is that people have no idea of scale and proportion. They compare us to the Knicks and Lakers. Both of those organizations generate over 3x in revenue than us. The Warriors are way above that. It took a huge investment, but they realized that they could make more than their money back given the market and demand. You want whoever the owner here is to make a huge investment and none of the data supports it paying off. So it's just throwing away money.

Good grief..
The Saints were a playoff team for 20 freakin years and now they're stuck in the lunch until another pro-bowl QB gets to NOLA.
And to say the Pels roster is bottom 2-3 is laughable. We have a ton of talent on this team. The problem is that none of it fits together.

She’s has no experience. This isn’t someone who ran Business X, made money, then grew into an NFL owner. She married into it. She doesn’t know how to evaluate talent. Can only hope she hits a HR on a safe hire.
