Correct.
Current roster is locked in on Zion, BI, and Herb.
CJ and JV are the major spots which could flip down the road, which means we may need their replacements. And it comes down to figuring out if guys on hand meet that already and we are looking for bench depth as they move up OR if we need someone else a little more immediately.
Top 5 prospects include some combo guards who could fill a CJ role or serve as depth behind Dyson.
I’m not seeing a big at this point if we miss out on Wematanye.

I’d tend to agree.
The only players on their roster so far for next year are LBJ, Toni, and two scrubs.
They have Bird or early Bird rights on Nunn, Reaves, etc.
They have our first that they can trade on draft night plus their own 2nd and a Bulls 2nd.
That’s not a starting lineup, let alone a full roster.
I see LeBron forcing his way out this summer, claiming the team lied to him in order to get him to sign the extension. Problem for LeBron is what teams would want to trade for a guy who is losing a step and repeatedly sabotaged his own teams through demanding moves that didn’t pan out?
The Lakers probably try to move him for players to be decent in 24 and start a rebuild but I don’t see a major improvement in talent through doing so.

So him being on the shitty lakers is his worst possible situation and lebron being there makes it so much worse
For who? It doesn’t make it worse for me. That bitch arse claiming he was sick when I had center court, court side seats in Orlando with my custom anti Toní shirts for my and my buddy karma is finally paying off.

We need to be looking at the entire top 5-10 prospects.
all. don't limit to 10.
the memphis pick 2 years ago @1.30 Santiago Aldama was on the Spanish euro u19 champ team.
the issue was whether he would play in Spain another year or try nba at age 19. he showed up. had a couple nice games. 2 injuries.
he's starting pf in year2 because Jj jr is out for now.
a late memphis pick the year before aldama was Bane @1.30. they paid boston 2 2nds.
it helps to get a high pick.
it helps more to know basketball. 4th for hayes and kira. don't think that is ok. it was both weak (I don't see anyone worth 4th money), cowardly (I can't say I bet on this guy at 4) and gamble (hayes was never even a starter at texas).

Flipping this pick would be dumb. Look how well that worked out in the Zion draft... The talent at the top is just so much better than what you get mid round in the NBA. Sure you can get lucky or unlucky at any position but you get many more hits at the top.
After Wemby and Scoot there are several highly regarded guards in the top 10. I would rather upgrade JV with someone on the rookie scale but getting CJ's heir apparent is not a bad option. I believe we are getting another top pick in 24 or 25 so we have another shot at an athletic big.
Don't forget we are also adding a first round talent with EJ next year. He may not get to play but he should know the plays and terminology well being around the team all year.

Trading down in the NBA draft is one of the worst possible moves in all of sport…
It’s worked out like twice? Ever?

The limits will be our open roster spots and the ability to get other picks.
Swinging a deal with the likes of Houston, Utah, or OKC to move back in exchange for picks and prospects is possible. But that may be trading a dollar for four quarters with regards to quality of the players.
We also would need to see if there is a way to turn Kira, Graham, Temple, etc, into a veteran who would help us or get other picks. Given their value, it would probably be 2nds or very late firsts.

More than twice.
At the least, we moved down in the JV trade and got Trey out of it, which solved our center issues in the short term and got us a sixth man.

I’ll be pissed if they trade out of the lakers’ spot if it’s top 10. Take the best player and figure it out later

I can’t see us trading down/out unless it’s a star player that fits our needs now. Even then, we’ve built very well through the draft. We have a chance to continue that with a stacked roster.

We have changed our draft philosophy. We are drafting NBA ready players and not on potential.

Can you give an example of trading out of a top 5 pick down has worked out? I’m curious if it has ever happened.

I'd almost always agree with this, but I reserve judgment based on how we do in the playoffs. If the playoffs show a weakness, then that weakness will have to be addressed. But, of course, we do have plenty of other assets to use to make deals.
But I still maintain that David Griffin's logic in 2019 was correct. We had Hayes and Culver ranked almost equally as the #4 and #5 choices on our board. Griffin was confident that one of them would be there at #8, so he made the trade to move back. That's still a smart move. The scouting was a disaster, but the trade was smart.

How big is this sample size? Teams don't trade out of the top 5 all that often.

The Kings are up 21 on the Heat at halftime. The Lakers may be the league's sole winless team.
Posted on 10/29/22 at 6:57 pm to GOP_Tiger
The Kings aren’t necessarily bad, just young.
The Lakers are offensively putrid as well as putrid on offense.

I just get the feeling they will be the worst in the nba. Watching them is painful. Weak minded players with absolutely no talent behind a few guys. It’s going to be brutal when they can’t play their big 2 on the same game.
