Yea he is a weird cat but he gained respect imo for doing what he believed in

Well, the Poli Board bros are all into conspiracy theories, and Kyrie is such a conspiracy theorist that he believes that the earth is flat, so ...

There is a lot more to Kyrie than just the vaccine situation. If it was just that, I honestly don’t think there would be a huge issue. I think most rational people can understand and empathize that New York had some inane, inconsistent rules in place last year, vaccinations are a personal health decision, and that healthy elite 30 year old athletes probably don’t need the vaccine to survive.
It’s all of the other stuff with Kyrie and the fact that there seems to be 1-3 different major Kyrie situations/controversies every single year, not just last year.

Correct
Such as, pushing his way out of a championship team in Cleveland.
And, destroying the locker room and pushing his way out of Boston.
And, getting to Brooklyn and destroying the locker room there.
And, getting the coach fired.
And, undermining the new coach
And, undermining the GM
And, hurting the new locker room
And, pushing James Harden out
And, just deciding to leave the team for an indefinite amount of time to walk the Earth or some shite.

this can be a win win.
los angeles gets a shooter for now. and moves Westbrook, no mean feat.
San Antonio gets 2 bites at firsts. those 27 and 29 could be pretty good.
l.a. might pick up 5 or 10 million of that 47m.

Why would the Lakers do this? What's the point? At that point, it would be better to just send Westbrick home and let him fall off the cap next year.
ETA: IMO, the Lakers only trade 2 firsts if the trade potentially puts them in the top half of the West. I don't think that trade has that potential. The Turner/Hield trade with Indy has a much higher ceiling than a Spurs trade. That and the Kyrie trade are the only reported possibilities that I could see the Lakers entertaining for the two 1sts.

I think one of my favorite Kyrie situations was when he was taking personal days from Brooklyn and no one could get in contact with him for weeks.
Then some random screenshots/clips came out of him in some random online Zoom college class. I think that might’ve been during his “walk the earth” leave of absence you referenced.
I also enjoyed when he tried to convince every single player to walk out of the Bubble, while he and KD were injured (so they had nothing to lose) instead of playing the season out.
I wish he would’ve been successful with that. The Lakers and AD wouldn’t even have their fake bubble ring.

Why?
He initially claimed he was doing it to represent the voiceless peasants or some shite then immediately abandoned that stance the instant the law was changed to carve out an exception for him.

6 “likes” ??, the off-season has been treacherous

You continue to prove the point. You don’t have to respond to everything

Love this thread though, quite entertaining.
I almost get more run than any actual news.
No news is good news though. I'm sure this thread will be a hot box come the actual season.

KD to stay with the Pels. I think that bodes well for our Lakers picks.
KD staying greatly increases the odds of Kyrie staying and more importantly, not being traded to the Lakers.
Lakers move forward maybe looking for another trade but as it stands(or assuming Westbrook is moved/waived) their 3rd best player is...I don't know, Kendrick Nunn?

The fact that Durant is staying in Brooklyn likely means that Kyrie is staying as well.
If the Lakers are going to dump Westbrook, I think that the Pacers are likely the best option for them, but I wonder if that's possible. Jeanie Buss isn't going to dump 2 first-round picks just to create a play-in team.
Personally, I now think that the Lakers are likely going to go into the season with Westbrook on the team. If he pouts and fights about his role, then the Lakers will just leave him at home.
Then, if the Lakers are still healthy and in a playoff slot at the trade deadline, then maybe the Lakers will be ready to give up draft picks to acquire some talent in exchange for Westbrook.

If Kyrie is off the board, the Lakers’ next options are along the lines of Buddy Hield or Terry Rozier and Gordon Heyward.
Probably better supporting pieces for them but none of those guys are a superstar worth two unprotected firsts. And LeBron already insisted they pass on Hield to get Westbrick last offseason.

You have to give minumum of one 1st to go with Westbrook, I think that is well established. The Lakers don't really have much in the way of other player assets, so that gives them then just 1 first to work with to get better. How much can that realistically get them from Indy?

I said it in the other thread, LeBron doesn't care about role players like he doesn't care about draft picks. He proved that last year killing a Buddy trade to go after Westbrook. The Lakers will keep the powder dry until the deadline hoping some star level player can be had.

I think they could get Rozier and Heyward for one 1st but that’s a lot of money to guarantee to two guys of middling value.
Only reason it works is that Charlotte saves about $100m long term by moving them. If they weren’t dumping so much salary, it would have to be two firsts.

WIth Bridges seemingly off the table, I think a quick reboot for Charlotte would be beneficial, if they could get Westbrook for his expiring.
Then just try your best in the offseason to build in free agency. Their options are limited obviously, but I think that is the best route going forward.
