Lakers Nation podcast is maintaining that the only way Irving makes it to the Lakers would be through a "possible but unlikely" 3 to 4 team trade, insisting the Nets don't want Westbrick ending up on their team.

And why would they? They don’t own their own pick, so tanking isn’t really going to help them.

Trade idea...

Lakers trade: Westbrook, Talen Horton-Tucker, and Kendrick Nunn
Lakers receive: Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward

Nets trade: Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant
Nets receive: Russell Westbrook, Talen Horton-Tucker, James Bouknight, PJ Washington, 2023 Den 1st, 2024 pick swap w/Charlotte, 2025 Charlotte 1st, 2026 pick swap w/Charlotte, and 2027 Charlotte 1st

Hornets trade: Gordon Hayward, PJ Washington, James Bouknight, picks
Hornets get: Kevin Durant and Kendrick Nunn

Nets get Westbrook who they don't really want but the get young players that can help them stay competitive and a ton of draft compensation for their troubles

Hornets get KD to pair with LaMelo (Jordan will probably like this)

Lakers get Kyrie and Hayward

Pelinka deserves GM of the year if this is what happens

Yeah, the Lakers aren't getting what they want without putting a pick in the mix, and it seems like that's a line drawn in the sand by Pelinka or Buss that they won't cross.

Both Lakers unprotected picks would have to go to the Nets and that still won’t be enough.

They losing the two best players in the trade and not getting anything of great value back player wise and taking back one of the worse contracts in the league?

SOURCE: The Lakers are working aggressively on a deal for Kyrie Irving — their current offer is Russell Westbrook, Talen Horton-Tucker, and their 2027 1st-round pick. Joe Harris could be headed to Los Angeles in the deal.

From Legion Hoops, not sure how reliable

So they get Irving AND Joe Harris, dump Russell Westbrook, and all they have to include is THT (who no one wants) and a 2027 1st.

Yeah I don’t see it happening, if it does then Brooklyn is just going full rebuild, which I also don’t see happening

very interesting.......

really sitting back and will watch things play out.

That's it. No speculation..... no breaking news.

Everyone after what dropped yesterday with KD etc should understand that they will be grabbing for air.

Let the chips fall where they will fall....

Honestly, I see Brooklyn saying "We haven't found deals we want, we are keeping both, they are under contract"

And going James Harden and letting this play out for as long as it takes to find the deals they want.

Sean Marks would get fired if he took that deal. Brooklyn fans would riot. Everyone in Brooklyn now hates Kyrie with the fire of a thousand suns, because they had a real chance to win a title last season, and he repeatedly blew it up. How do you think Steve Nash feels today?

They absolutely can not and will not let Kyrie dictate the terms of his exit.

There's zero chance of that deal happening. The Lakers are going to have to include the 2029 pick for Brooklyn to even consider it.

I think Kyrie has more leverage than people realize here

He is an expiring, so the Nets either get something now, the deadline, or never.

I could see this dragging out to the deadline if the Lakers play hardball, but in the end Kyrie can pull an AD and say we will walk at season’s end to the Lakers regardless. Which will depress the market for Kyrie, and unlike AD at the time, team’s know he’s toxic and can destroy your culture in a 6 months if you let him.

I think eventually you will see Kyrie for picks, swap, and Russ + pieces. Either this summer or the deadline.

And for the Nets, it’s probably not the worst deal cause the Lakers will almost certainly be terrible when Lebron is gone and that team has literally no draft assets.

You don't keep up with Brooklyn as a neighborhood or even just as a fanbase do ya?

They may not even know they have a team there

Westbrook, THT, and a Laker 27 first isn’t much in the scheme of things.

Westbrook is expiring and THT sucks. A Laker first in 27 is good but that is a ways off and the Nets are horrible until then unless they flip it.

Someone will offer better than an expiring salary and one pick.

The Lakers will offer more. I think they have available two firsts and a swap they can leverage. I think all of those will be gone to the Nets imo

The pressure on the lakers will be the same with AD. You have a timer on Lebron’s window and to say we will wait til next season to make another run and hope Kyrie doesn’t change his mind again will be difficult to justify with the pressure all around the team, fanbase, city, and media pushing them to get talent in to win now. Which is what Griff leveraged.

Even moreso if they start the season lackluster, which they seem poised to do again.

Agreed. I think Kyrie gets traded to lakers. If I was betting though I’d probably bet this drags into the season.

Problem for the Nets is that their 23 pick is in a mess of conditions.

Looks like there are swaps on it with Houston and Philly. Brooklyn gets the best of those picks but someone ends up conveying a pick to Utah out of this.

If this is the pick Brooklyn traded yesterday, they picked a hell of a time to do this because it will frick them hard.

not to mention, how is Royce O’Neal worth a 1st? And why did they want him anyway?
