The Cleveland Cavaliers are in serious talks on a deal to acquire Lakers guard Rajon Rondo, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. In wake of Ricky Rubio’s season-ending ACL injury, Cleveland has need for backcourt help and is working on the potential move.

Looks like trade season may finally be starting.

Upvote for Rondo. But seriously he’ll somewhat replace what Rubio did in being able to run the offense, but still a downgrade at this point in his career.

Why? He gets to go to a team not fighting for play-in home court advantage

Cavs are tradinf Denzel Valentine. Lakers are waiving him to create a roster spot. I think he would be a good get with Kira’s exception to give us more wing depth. Better than Gary Clark I’d presume.

Can’t wait to see what over-the-hill vet the Lakers use that roster spot on. Dwayne Wade? Ray Allen? Kyle Korver?

They are just creating a roster spot for Stanley Johnson. Who as we know, is not good at basketball.

Yup, 40% 3 point shooter (albeit on 2 apg) and can defend. The type of players we need to keep adding.

Rockets point guard Kevin Porter Jr. lost his temper during a heated halftime discussion and didn’t return to the court, leaving the Toyota Center during the second half of tonight's loss to the Nuggets, sources told @wojespn and me.

ESPN story coming soon.

I somehow sense that Houston may trade him.

Didn't he have locker room issues in Cleveland too? Who would want him anymore?
Also I read Christian Wood refused to play in the second half. Things just aren't good in Houston.

Sources: Wood was benched to start the loss to Denver after missing a mandatory COVID-19 testing window. Lucas called out entire team at halftime, and focused on Wood's effort level. Porter had a heated exchange with the longtime assistant, and drove out of arena at halftime.

Wood seemed to be on the right track with his last 2 teams, but his rep will take a huge hit and fall back to where it used to be if he truly refused to play an entire half.

Yeah, unfortunately I bet you Silas and his assistants will lose their job instead of the players being traded.

I don't know about that. Houston is facing a teardown anyway. There's no reason for the front office to protect these players, and of course, they likely want to be traded.

this post ends with my trade for pels to get pg tyus jones.
quote:

Memphis waived guard Sam Merrill, who sources say will undergo a procedure on his left ankle and be sidelined for three to four months. Merrill had a guaranteed contract for the rest of this season and had made a positive impression with Memphis.

merrill can shoot.
whats it cost to claim him if his deal is guaranteed?
he could be bench shooting when zion is back.

memphis converted f killian tillie from 2 way to 2 years 4 million. gets merrills seat on bench.
getting run due to covid.

and memphis picked up tyrell terry off dallas waiver. guard. 31st pick in 2020.
he was in Memphis g league team for a while.
the idea is to get guard depth After they deal Tyus Jones.
i been telling Td gm to get jones. 5 to 1 assist to turnover.
hes expiring.
not much 3 pt but goes inside and can run or do halfcourt offense.

hes on the trade block.
