It might be time to start penciling in a nice pay day for Trey in 3 years. Relatively unproven shooters like Grayson Allen and Landry Shamet got $10 per year and Huerter got $15. Trey hopefully is good enough to get more than $15.

A little too soon to pencil it in but I like his chances.

I swear the Nega-Pel is coming out in me seeing Trey was one of the most efficient scorers in Summer League, then again, one of the most efficient scores in the NBA in preseason.

While i have no doubts he'll be a good shooter, even in his rookie year, this franchise has beaten me down into pretty much assuming he's going to start the 1st 10-15 games shooting like 21% or some shite.

pretty unusual that both the 1 and 2 will be RFA.
I’m actually pretty surprised PHX didn’t max out ayton although I applaud them for the restraint

also, yet another indictment of both PHX and SAC for passing on doncic. Just incredible incompetence

Difference being Buddy Hield was a lot more inconsistent in Summer League and Preseason.

If Trey fell off a Cliff, I’d compare it more to Nickeil after his initial summer league and preseason.

What makes me confident in that not happening is Trey is a role player that plays well off others. Nickeil was a guy that was used to running the entire show in College, Summer League and for big minutes in preseason. Him running the show hasn’t happened a lot in actual NBA games unless there are injuries. It took Nickeil a couple years to successfully learn how to be a 3rd or 4th option, but Nickeil is at his best when he is allowed to be a volume guy that runs the offense. Not saying that’s our best winning formula, but that’s nickeil’s best formula. He’s a true rhythm player. If Nickeil only gets 5 shots a game, he’s going 1-5. If he gets 15, he’s going to go 7-15.

Whereas Trey doesn’t need volume. He is just a knockdown shooter whether that opportunity comes 4 times a game or 12 times a game.

I think it’s entirely reasonable to expect Trey to make an average of three 3’s a game and shoot 39-41%. And it’s legitimately plausible he makes more like 4 a game at a 45% clip playing off a healthy Zion and BI.

Ball got over 21 mil a year so it should be no surprise that Bridges received a little bit more.

That would have him shooting around 10 threes a game to get 4 a game.

Only three players averaged that many 3PA's last season: Lillard, Curry, Hield.

I like Trey, but I don't think he is coming out the gate as a rookie averaging 40% and getting 10 3PA's a game.

I'm guessing he will be averaging between what Desmond Bane and McDermott averaged last season. Between 4-6 attempts from three a game by seasons end. With some nights where he'll probably only take 1 or 2, and a few nights 10+

I can see up to 8 attempts if he ends up in the starting lineup while playing starter minutes. He's going to be a specialist early on and his primary job is to take those shots.

He can't reach 10 a game especially if you have a Graham, NAW, and BI starting line up.

I'd say the realistic upper limit is what Davis Bertans averaged. Which was around 7.5 3 attempts a game because almost all of his 8.5 overall attempts come from three.

But as you say, BI, Zion, NAW, and Jonas are all gonna fall higher on the pecking order. What Trey hopefully can bring you is consistency and reliability from three.

That unlike a Lonzo you aren't going to have wild game to game and month to month variances.

Let's let him play an actual NBA game first.

Luxury tax is a joke. It basically is the "rich" teams/owners paying the smaller market team to be their punching bags while allowing them to circumvent the salary cap.

Not to the degree that it is in MLB.

In the NBA, being in the luxury tax also limits your ability to make moves because of how tightly you need to match salaries.

In MLB, the Yankees can trade someone out and pay half their salary for the right to be rid of them.

At least the MLB does not act like they have a salary cap. They are blatant about it. NBA wants to act as if there is a salary cap that evens the playing field when it does not.

He is one of the worst defenders in the NBA. However, offensively, he has potential. I cannot imagine he would bring much in a trade.
