Even if we got Beal this place would find a reason to melt.

That actually would be pretty funny if Griff pulled off a Beal trade after all of NBA commentating spent the last few days dumping on the Pels. They'd start calling Griff a genius even if he overpaid.

I mean, if they are going to trade Beal, would they tell anyone?

I know that GS offered them a mega offer for Beal (Wiggins, Wiseman, 8 and 14, plus future 1sts). I'm sure that is still out there. I don't see how we can beat that, without centering it around Zion..

No but they haven’t acted like a team looking to trade Beal
They also would have done so at draft time when they could have maximized value.
We also can’t trade them a 2022 or 2023 pick right now so it’s not going to be us.

It doesn’t sound like that’s the plan for Wash at all. But I guess we will see.
Reacting to reactions on social media always seems like a fool's errand, but Dinwiddie to the Wizards seemed all but done other than figuring out S&T compensation. I can't imagine this is about Dinwiddie. It's either nothing or Griff had enough doors slammed in his face looking for singles and doubles that he decided to overpay for a homerun.

Sheppard thinks NAW is the next Steph.

NAW could be a lot of things, but Steph isn’t one of them

But it hasn't been figured out yet, players react on social media like this all the time when a deal gets done, even if its old news.
I would be willing to bet if there was a trade in the works it leaks before we even hear from Mr and Mrs Beal.

But yea, pretty weird with how many guards they're accumulating.

It could be about the comments the owner made about Westbrook a few days ago and they are just now seeing it.
quote:
“We had a superstar player with the Wizards, he had an opportunity and wanted to be traded to the Lakers,” Leonsis said, via ESPN. “And I was dealing with that as we were announcing Alex. I couldn’t help but self-reflect on what a difference it is. Here’s a great player in Russell Westbrook, played in OKC, wanted to be traded, went to Houston, wanted to be traded, came to D.C., wanted to be traded and is now in L.A. He’s an unbelievably great person and an unbelievably great player. But that’s the difference between the NBA and the NHL, I suppose.”

I do think they WANT to shed one of them, but are probably holding out to see if anyone offers them positive value instead of just a salary dump.

Would it be possible to trade for Beal and extend him?

Buddy to the Pels has always been one of those deals that seems like the path of least resistance for both teams with where they want to go.

that's something you say to drive the price up.
maybe he is staying put, but i'd be nervous as hell if i were washington that i'd lose him for pretty much nothing after this year, and they sure as shite aren't competing for a championship as is.
acting like Kyle fricking Kuzma and 1 year rental Harrell are going to help them is just silly, yet you see writers use that as a point that they are trying to build around Beal.
if they wanted to compete, they wouldn't have traded Westbrook, they would have looked to add to the team around Westbrook and Beal.

Washington could have gotten top dollar a week ago. Doing it now doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless things have changed internally.

I don't think he'd be extension eligible with us until next offseason so we'd be rolling the dice.
And I don't see any reason why he'd give us a commitment long term, nor would I trust it even if he did.
