They have his Bird Rights, they can offer him the most of anyone.

The Heat keeping Kendrick Nunn seems hugely unlikely, @johnhollinger writes.

Could Nunn be an interesting option for us?

Sarver is notoriously cheap though, that may play into Pels favor

This would make me very happy (spitballing Tweet from Mac):

Lonzo signed and traded on a new 4/90 contract, with Brogdon, Lamb, and Warren all coming back is legal and would really free up some room for Indy to bring McDermott back and do some other things.
Pels would maintain Hart's rights and have full MLE as well

Spacing has never been an issue with this team
I have pretty vivid memories of Zion continuously driving the lane against a wall of 4 dudes. He's a beast and makes them a lot, but that doesn't mean there isn't a spacing issue.

Brodgon.
I would be extremely pleased if we were able to S&T Lonzo for Brogdon. That's probably the best case scenario in my view

Both Bill Simmons(shockingly) and some of the Dunc'd On People brought up some good points on their FA primer's
Basically that there are kind of more players(especially point guards and centers) than there really are buyers with money.
Both seem to think at least some of the guys a tier down like Reggie Jackson, Patty Mills, Rose, Fournier, Joseph, Powell, Dinwiddie etc. are going to be on the receiving end of a much lower than expected offers because the need + money just isn't there. Think really only Holmes has a good shot at cracking over 10 million. That guys like Portis, Olynyk, Howard, etc. may be looking at pretty small contracts.

quote:I haven't watched a ton of his games, but statistically he appears to be a Norman Powell lite. Could be a decent fall back option as a shooter. I assume he's going to get a salary in the mid-teens, but I haven't really heard much about expectations there.

We’d have to sweeten the pot with picks. Warren has a lot of interest in the league and they could get an asset for him.

A lot? He scored at a near record efficiency. And even with two very inept offensive players in Bledsoe and Adams, and a really poor bench overall, we were 11th in the league in offensive rating. I’m sorry, but this teams issues were not floor spacing. We didn’t lose games because Zion couldn’t get to the rim.
I don’t want to be misunderstood. Making more threes means scoring more points. Obviously it’s important. But getting better players is what this team needs.
Replacing Adam’s with Jonas is what this team needs. Replacing Bledsoe with a cardboard cutout is what this team needs. Any guard or wing that defends would be nice. The LAST thing I worry about is Zion getting to the rim and BI getting to his mid range.

Meaning, the lane will always be clogged no matter who we get. The dudes won't help Zion specifically IMO, but rather Zion and the attention he gets will help the guys around him, and having better shooters will obviously be a higher positive impact.

I was thinking this same thing, it’s like musical chairs. Most teams have their starter at pg. And they have only so many spots. We can offer one. Hope Griff is patient, cus when the music stops, we should get somebody decent at a good price. Sucks he overpaid Adams so much last year, coulda got a good value at that spot too…

Spacing is a big issue. More and better shooters will allow easier buckets when teams clog the lane for Zion. Easier buckets mean less effort required for an efficient offense. This leaves more player energy left over for the defensive end of the court. Also, better spacing makes the end of game situations more fruitful when buckets are at a premium and defenses really tighten up.

quote:Completely agree, I just think the easier buckets will come much more so for everyone else getting wide open shots and a bit less for Zion getting less attention at the rim. Which is fine, Zion can score over 3 or 4 people, he's proved that. But it will be great for the role players who can knock down shots.

You remember the last drive Zion took this past season?
There are plenty of good reasons for wanting to clear up some space in the lane

quote:That probably won't happen. A team is better off letting someone shoot a wide open 3 than letting Zion get a 1 on 1 at the rim.
