Spacing has never been an issue with this team and I really wish people would stop talking about it at every turn. We needed to make more shots from outside, no doubt. But we got to the rim at will and had one of the leagues best offenses even though Bledsoe and Adam’s were on the court. It’s just so absurd.

We had issues finishing games and on defense. THOSE were major issues. Dinwiddie is pretty clutch, and a better finisher period as compared to Lonzo and Bledsoe. And at 6’5, he definitely gives you the size to not have major defensive targets on the court.

The guy is a really really good player, and pretty popular overall with other players for what that’s worth. I think people need to look beyond the googling of his 3PT%.

Speaking of which, the Pacers are a dark horse in the Lonzo Ball sweepstakes if the Pelicans miss out on Lowry, as they could tempt New Orleans with a Brogdon-Ball swap. Brogdon’s name has bubbled up at other points in the last few weeks as well; keep an eye on this.

Don't see Lonzo willing to sign with Indiana especially when we know Chicago is going to make a good offerl

Agree. The key is where HE wants to play given the offers.

Adams is career 45% from 3-10 feet JV is 51%. It will not create more space for Zion, I've said from the beginning you need an elite shooter to actually draw players off Zion. But you will convert the dump offs more. Maybe it's only .2 ppg going from 45% to 51% on a handful of dump offs. But as close as this team was to winning a lot of games that they blew, that could make a difference.

If you get half a point a game going from JV to Adams, and another half point going from Bledsoe to Dinwiddie, and another point for Zion taking a step. All of that eventually adds up and you go from a bad team that blew a lot of leads to a good team that wins as much as you'd expect a team with 2 All Stars to win.

Assuming we can't match a Chicago offer and then just deal his arse to Indiana can we?

Probably not allowed but would be beautiful and a great FU to Klutch.

If you get Dinwiddie, then you have to get a Hardaway, Powell, Bog, etc to pair with him or bring in off the bench to add to the shooting. And then you need another bench player that can knock down a 3 here and there from any position.

But if you have Dinwiddie, say Hardaway, Ingram, and Jonas as 3 pt threats, you are in fine shape.

Late, hot addendum to today's story: A double sign-and-trade could be in works that sends Lonzo Ball to Charlotte and Devonte' Graham back to New Orleans

However, one late, hot item I’ve heard is that a double sign-and-trade may be in the works that sends Ball to Charlotte and Devonte’ Graham back to New Orleans. The Ball brothers would be reunited with the Hornets while the Pelicans would still have a young point guard.
More Hollinger.

This "hot item" sounds awfully like the spit balling Bill Simmons was doing on his podcast last night, to reunite Lonzo with Melo.

If we go with a player like Dinwiddie, I would like to see an elite shooter on the wing.

Norman Powell would still be a killer add with Dinwiddie. Maybe not the most exciting pair to add for most, but that would be killing it in my mind. Expensive though for sure.

He would be a nice add alongside Dinwiddie.

First, we can match, and until Chicago actually cuts or trades some guys to clear space this is all bluffing trying to get us to agree to take their crap S&T offer.

2nd, no. Lonzo has to agree to a S&T, so we can't send him to Indy for Brogdon if he doesn't want to go to Indy. What we can do is threaten to match a Chicago offer and see if there's another team he likes enough to take a S&T there. If he hates his situation in NOLA enough maybe you can get him to choose Boston or Charlotte if he doesn't like Indy.

Spacing will never be an issue in the first 43 minutes of a game. The last minutes is where it would effect you, and that's when you throw out a Dinwiddie, NAW, Duncan(or another shooter), Ingram, Zion lineup and dare teams to sag off the 3 point line to double Zion and Spencer, while they sit there and kill you with P&R after P&R.

You're right. And we'd have almost no decent defenders on the roster.

I think they're going to have to lean into the offense. The Pels were the tale of 2 teams last season. Top 7 offense, bottom 5 defense Pre All Star Break, Top 7 defense, bottom 10 offense Post All Star Break.

I would think the most likely path to improvement is becoming a top 3 offense and not doing dumb things on defense like ignoring 3 point shooters.

I'm fine with leaning into to offense. I'd just rather not do it with poor man's Kemba, that actually thinks he's prime Kemba. Graham's waving off BI and Zion as we speak.

Re-sign Lonzo, or give me Dinwiddie or Brodgon.
