That wasn't an explanation at all. You just restated your conclusion. You do know the difference between an explanation and a conclusion, right? Please don't reply "yes, an explanation is an explanation and a conclusion is a conclusion".
Instead, let's focus on the original question and see if you can actually answer it: If the songs that you consider to be the 'best' songs are something other than the songs that sound the best to your ear, (ie. they are your favorite songs), then how is it that you determine what the "best' song is?
This is an actual question. Not rhetorical.

The Allman Brothers is my favorite band. I don’t think they are the best band of all time. They are not as accomplished as the Stones for instance. Didn’t have as much success or sales or whatever measure you are trying to judge art as the best.
You don’t have to like the best. It can still be your favorite.

I think Queen is probably objectively the best band of all time (my main metric/argument is that all 4 members WROTE a #1 song).
But they are probably only #5 overall for me personally.

My favorite to listen to is "My Name is Jonas". But "Buddy Holly" is probably the most perfectly crafted pop rock song ever written.
"In the Garage" also gets a nod from me.

Yes, and when I asked you how to gauge best if not your favorite, and you said sales.

I’ve loved weezer from day 1 and over analyze every song. Lol
If we’re talking complete package such as best druming, solo, bass line, riff, vocals, go back and listen to
Undone
Tired of Sex
Only in Dreams
Perfect Situation
Say it ain’t so
Undone and Dreams might be my favs. Just the middle to ends of those songs have unreal guitar and drumming
Matt Sharp has a huge influence on the sound and he left after Pinkerton, so it’s no surprise most of their “best” work is between the two.

My two favorites:
1. Undone
2. Dopenose
There is a remix of Automatic that was on one of the releases of Forza Motor Sports that is excellent. They have a ton of stuff I can listen to, and I'm an old dude.
