Why is guitar buying so damn addictive?

I have literally no need for any more guitars, I love the ones I have and they're great but this Taylor 210 DLX in tobacco sunburst has put my billfold on high alert.
Why does it have to be this way?

I don't know, but I haven't bought one in about 6 months. It's 1 day at a time.

I'm currently lusting for a PRS Hollowbody with piezo, even though my G&L does everything I really need it to.

I went to read reviews about this particular instrument hoping there'd be a bunch of bad ones to talk me out of wanting it.
Instead, its a much of "Oh my god, this guitar is absolutely beautiful and sounds as good as my $4,000 Taylor, I can't put this thing down."

Because there is always a sound you can't get out of the guitars you have now.
Of course, for most of us, we would be better served spending money on lessons, more time playing, etc., but where is the fun in that?

Guitar fever is very real. It takes a lot of restraint to get through it. The main symptom is the sheer amount of reasons you’ll come up with to justify a purchase with no regard to your wallet.

It kills me. I have 3 PRS solid bodies alone. Why? I have no freaking idea.

The one who dies with the most guitars wins!

I just want a telecaster...with a b-bender, and a vintage Gibson LP, and a 12 string acoustic, and a 12 string electric, and an expensive acoustic 6 string with a cutaway, and a gretch semi-hollow body and a bigsby bridge, and...

There is a funny anecdote that I have forgotten most of the details. It is a famous rock song with an extended instrumental jam (I do NOT think it is Can't You Hear Me Knockin', but hell who knows with all I've forgotten - my impression is - this story happened in the early-to-mid 70s). One of the session players whose name I've forgotten - I think he was one of those crossover guys - played in a lot of bands but also played a lot of session work - he shows up for this recording session for laughs - to watch or hang out with friends who were involved. He decides he wants to play, but all that they have left lying around is (again, this is the way I remember it) a Gibson ES-335. Not only had the player never played or handled this particular guitar before, he'd never played any Gibson ES style.
He tuned it up and played around with it for a couple of minutes then ended up on the final recording take.
So, at the end of the day, it isn't the ax, it's the player.

Well, duh, and I’m no great player, but the yearning is the same.

Don't look at me to talk y'all down, that guitarlust directly fuels my livelihood.
On a gear acquisition-related note ... did you guys hear I'm hand-winding classic and custom electric guitar and bass pickups in house now?

And it made in at 8:45 PM
Yairi DYM94 - (olde school) - Solid body mahogany, spruce topped, hide glued, extended dove tail notched to match the DYM95 (Rosewood) and complete that Masterbuilt set/series.
Which gets added to the pair of cedar topped Yairi's one burled mahogany and the other ovangol. And the S.Yairi 0028 clone, and the Martin 12 string, and the (asked for in the will) beater Yairi, and the cedar top Striped Macassar Ebony Washburn. ...all because they make different sounds.
... which is why buying guitars is so damn addictive?

Nice! I'll eventually pick up a high-end Yairi, my '87 DY38 will have to do for now.

GAS is a real phenomenon. I have my eyes on a Jazzmaster next.
But first I have to finish up paying my other recent purchases.
