Aerosmith is one of the better bands of multi generations. How can you even say that? I agree they've gone downhill, but come on man!
Dream On is an AMAZING (no pun intended)song. And their rendition of Come Together is top notch.

Well, I can't say that I really hate any of their music, but I will give you most songs on the Nine Lives album were less than satisfactory.

Well, I was going to use the argument that you can apply that to most groups. A lot of bands/artists have multiple albums come out before they become culturally relevant. I honestly didn't recognize a song on their albums until the self titled album in '91, soooooo.....maybe they just didn't have enough interest before then?

They did have a large following, but the "Black Album" was just so damn successful it brought a whole new fan base and made them probably the most famous band in the world at that time.

I may have a different definition of "greatest" than some do. To me greatest is their standing in the world of music, quality of the music, influnce etc. Doesn't mean you have to like them. You just understand the impact they had in their time.
I'm 35 and to me the "greatest" band of that time period is U2. No one can deny their impact on music and the world. I don't like them but I recognize how big they are.
Another is Metallica. Whether you like them or not or think they sold out, it doesn't take away from how fricking good they were in their heyday. They played clean, fricking powerful music on those early albums. Anyone that loves instrumentation can't listen to those early albums and not like what they hear.
I'm a rap junkie but I'm sorry, rappers are not bands. The Roots, yes, but the others listed, no. They go under the "artist" or "singer" category. Otherwise people would be listing Micheal Jackson, Mariah Carey etc.
