Red Hot Chili Peppers definitely seem to have had the best staying power. No Doubt hasn't done too shabby either, but I don't think they are as universally popular as RHCP. Nirvana may have been the most influential though.

Well, the 90's don't seem to have as many groups with really good staying power. They had multiple number 1 albums. They still tour to huge arenas and have continued to make music. Also, one of the better concerts I've been to. They're relevant.

I didn't say they were the greatest. But I do feel they are culturally relevant for my time period. Tragic Kingdom was '95 and that was a great album!

I'm sorry but Tool and Metallica are two that I just can't get behind. I mean I can at least name a few Metallica songs. Tool is just awful. But apparently several would say the same about No Doubt, so to each their own.
