Good call. Really like this one as well.

And yeah Turnpike is absolutely in there for me if they count. Phenomenal live.

ETA: TT is actually the blueprint I wish Blue Water Highway would follow. Keep their unique sound, but still can be considered country. Love their stuff, but feel they may be a little too niche to make it "big".

For everyone saying Jason Isbell, What are your top 3 songs? Love Cover me up, but haven't really gotten into anything else.

...I have too many to list...3 is not enough...I could honestly listen to a whole Isbell album (any of them) and not skip a song

honorable though...

Palmetto rose
24 Frames
Elephant
Decoration Day
Dress Blues
Speed Trap Town

his Poncho and Lefty cover is pretty damn good as is his version of Alabama's Old Flame

dude is awesome...you should invest more time in taking a listen to him

Eric Church is so cringe

Wanna be outlaw so bad, yet he's not much better than the bro-country garbage on the radio. Some of his songs are on the cusp of being bro country

Yeah he is definitely borderline. But his last album was great. Knives Of New Orleans is a bad arse fricking song.

I've only seen Chris live twice, both at Cheatham Street.

'Down the River' is 100% a true story after seeing him both times lol.

On Turnpike, the first time I saw them live was back in 2011 I believe. They are great. I love them, but I hate going to shows other than LJT/Music Fest where the place is packed out.

If anyone wants a recommendation on a former band for Americana, check out Emory Quinn. All-time GOAT just because I followed them around in college. Worth a listen for sure.

Rodney Crowell deserves a mention as well as Lucinda Williams. Both would be in my 5 greatest. IIRC Crowell just got a long overdue Grammy for "Best Americana" album in the past year or so.

Surprised John Prine and Steve Earle weren't mentioned yet.

Crowell and Emmylou cover Ray Price classic:
