When country stations went woke and felt like that have to play as many women singers as men. Most of them are unbearable to listen to.

Waylon was a man. You can call him he.

When country singers sent liberal, it was the beginning of the end.
Well, that was way back in the day, then. Johnny Cash advocated tirelessly for prisoners' rights. Willy advocate for, ahem, legalization. Most of the Outlaws even had - gasp - long hair! etc

You’re honestly a little late on this. Some of the new guys are really good IMO and are bringing country back to some good places.

When Porter Wagoner went mainstream and turned it into a clown show.

I recently watched the Ken Burns Country Music Documentary. I think the documentary made mention the Telecommunications Act of 1996 that led to a wave of radio station mergers. This meant that there was less variety of artist that would make their break on the radio and made a lot of regional country scenes get squashed and make all the gatekeepers run through a few people in Nashville.

In essence you won't get folks like the Kershaw brothers from South Louisiana to be played on country radio unless their music sounds like Luke Bryan. Any regional Americana influences like Zydeco are a no-go in contemporary country radio. If you are able to come up through a country sub-genre like the Texas Country/Red Dirt scene then you can have more artistic license to have an orginal sound.

This and Mutt Lange. His brought his shitty Def Leppard production crap to her stuff and there you go. If she didn't have great cans and looked like Lulu from Hee Haw, no one would've paid attention to it

I don't remember the year, but the first time I heard deanna carter's bloodletting "dance" song, I've never tuned in a modern country channel. On Pandora, 60's 70's and 80's country. Give me a Ray Price/ Conway tune any day. That and the Ennio Morricone channel for the great western themes.

Stop listening to the radio and actually dig into country music today... There are some really good artists turning country around in a very good way.
