"Somebody's Crying" got a ton of play on MTV in 95, and "Baby, Did A Bad Bad Thing" charted as well

This kind of thing always comes up as to what constitutes a "One Hit" and what charts are used to determine if something is a hit.

IMO the best definition is a Top 40 song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. If that is used, then Chris Isaak has only 1 Top 40 hit, Wicked Game. Somebody's Crying made it to 45 and Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing never entered that chart.

BDABBT did reach number 3 on the Adult Alternative Songs chart. But if we start using all the charts Billboard has, Letters to Cleo has two hits, Blind Melon has 3, Marcy Playground has 3, Toadies has 4, and Spacehog has 4. You will be hard pressed to find many true "One Hit Wonders" using all these charts.

Conversely if we only use a Top 40 song from the Hot 100, Letters to Cleo and Toadies have zero.

Because Toadies were never really played on Top 40 radio... they were play A LOT on Alt/Modern Rock stations like 100.7 or KROQ, and their videos were mainly just on 120 Minutes or Alternative Nation

Rubberneck was a damn good album too, I think they are playing it in full at Tips in November
