I don't think I've ever heard a Black Keys song. Are they really bigger than Metallica, Tool, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, RHCP, or even Nickelback?

Yes you have. If you've turned a television on in the past 2 years you've heard a black keys song. Seems like they have a song on every commercial.
And yes they are currently bigger than everyone you just listed... Foo fighters is the only band that comes close

right now? Yes. RHCP might be the closest. Maybe.

Basically any headliner in that category is in the million dollar range. You can find out exactly what Jazz Fest pays its top performers by looking at their 990. Find top payments, then track back to the management group the amount is paid to. I am almost positive they paid simon and garfunkel (Old Friends Touring is the company name) a million a few years ago.
Thems the ropes. Only way for musicians to make real money anymore is live shows.

7 figures seems a little high for them. But then again, when I found out what Zack Brown Band wanted to play for like 350K two years ago at the venue I worked for, I was blown away. Then there was Jason Aldean who in addition to his ticket sales guarantee wanted $1 of every alcohol sale made. That just seems absurd.

I wonder how much they got paid to do the free concert here last year.

Actually, you're the extreme "wannabe". I don't do that work anymore but I'm willing to bet, "in the day" as they say, that I've negotiated more music contracts than you've ever seen.

ETA: and yet, you don't understand how in the current market, the black keys command a 7 figure festival payment.

They're paid 7 figs per show, yet music pirating is a HUGE deal to them.....

I believe I fully acknowledged I haven't been involved in the market in quite awhile. That's why I started the thread. The numbers have changed dramatically in the last few years.
But look, brah, you've got the inside info on the Varsity. Don't let me frick up your buzz. You need to enjoy it while it lasts (two years . . . max).

I sure wish they'd play the blues again.
There major influence is Junior Kimbrough.
Everywhere I go love this cover.

You're such a clueless jackass

I don't like the Black Keys at all, but it's a free enterprise system, and I say get all the money you can. It's the American way. Anybody who complains about what other people are getting paid is either a)jelly, or b)a commie lib tree-hugging wealth redistribution advocate. Same goes for athletes' pay. If we were that talented, we would gladly accept the big money too. JMO.

Yeah. You think you are a music industry guru yet your main venue is a crappy college bar in a lower tier city.
