What The Black Keys Are Paid for a Show

I know this is a weird fricking thing to post. And I know it will seem unbelievable. But I heard this tonight from a very, very reliable source, and I have to get some other people's reaction. The fricking Black Keys are being paid seven fricking figures to play at JazzFest this year. I have no reason to doubt this source and every reason to believe it. Assuming this figure is right, what the frick are they paying people like Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel, etc.? I'm not concerned with personal opinions about whether someone likes a particular act. I'm just talking about market value.
Am I crazy to think that's an incredible amount of money for a single show? The last time I was sort of plugged in to the concert circuit, major acts were getting in the $500-750,000 range for a single show (and I'm talking about acts far bigger than the Black Keys).

i'd have to know what others are getting paid.
i CAN imagine this being right, but that is just a ridiculous amount of money for a sunday headliner. they must be paying fleetwood 1.5 mil. the keys are one of the hottest rock acts out right now, though.

I saw Metallica's tour rider from a few years ago and it said $750,000 - $1 million. I'd bet they made $1 million for Voodoo last year. Foo Fighters probably got around that much for Jazzfest last year.

seems about right if theyre one of the biggest acts around.
i think its just that there is such a big drop off if youre not a huge act and just a regular band.

When a rider gets posted online read them, it's ridiculous what these acts demand to have for them. I hate musicians for that reason alone. I've been involved in putting on a lot of concerts and multi day festivals and goddamn is it a nightmare to book a major act.
The unknown acts are just as bad and act a million times wilder because they are new to living the life and want nothing but to party and frick shite up.
A million seems really high, but $500K might be in range. It's crazy what those festivals are earning so it's all about scale, some of them take a smaller guarantee but want a cut of every ticket, which is what I always preferred to ensure they'd do some promotional appearances for the event.

The black keys are the rock stars of today. Rock stars make a lot of money.... I don't see the shock value here

I mean you don't even have to know anything about the music business to know that there aren't many rock acts bigger than the black keys right now
How many Grammys? Nominations?
Charting songs? Songs in commercials?
Songs in movie trailers?
And you have to realize that the million is going towards lawyers, agents, managers, roadies, record label, distributing records etc.
They have a lot of expenses that aren't accounted for by the lay person

I'd venture to guess the Black Keys are the biggest rock band in the country that was formed in the past decade (that would exclude the Foo Fighters). If you need a young rock band with crossover appeal, who else are you gonna get?

There probably isnt a more universally liked band in the states right now. They draw from pretty much every demographic.
No band is far bigger than the Black Keys especially not a current band.
