if i fell

quote:

‘If I Fell’ was recorded in 15 takes on 27 February 1964. On the same day they also recorded ‘Tell Me Why’ and the second and final remake of ‘And I Love Her’.

The two-part harmony vocals was sung by Lennon and Paul McCartney into a single microphone. Lennon took the low harmony, allowing McCartney to dominate the verses.

on a single day in 1964, the beatles recorded three (3!) original songs, with vocal and instrumental arrangements composed in the studio, at the ages of 20, 21, & 23

Surprised that The Mamas and the Papas haven't been mentioned yet.

I'll add The Cowsills and New Edition.

This Boy

I’ll see your If I Fell and raise you This Boy. Recorded with John, Paul and George singing on one microphone. The only additional overdub is the descending guitar during the fade out.

One of my favorite harmony groups are the grandaddies of harmony, The Mills Brothers.

If you want to blow your mind check them out in their 70s singing and imitating instruments. LINK

Bobby Kimball, Steve Lukather, David Paich on Rossana. About as perfect harmonies as you will hear prior to Pro Tools.

I was born & raised with Bobby in the small town of Vinton. In the late 70s I had a 20 mile drive to & from work. I listened to the radio and I heard a song titled Hold the Line by the group Toto. I had no idea who Toto was but I kept telling myself, DAMN, that voice sounds familiar. In the early '80s I returned to Vinton to attend a relatives funeral. Bobby happened to be in town visiting family. We had a couple of beverages together and revisited old times.

These three young ladies can be tough to beat right now, and some of the nicest people I've met. Been privileged to sit a few feet away during some of their recordings. Foxes and Fossils - in order of appearance here Maggie Adams, Sammie Purcell, and Chase Truren.

OK they didn't do a lot of harmonizing, but Freddie, Brian, and Roger were all legit singers with their own hit songs, and collectively they created one of the most insane rock vocal performances of all time...

You know what song
