What do you do with your CD collection?

My CD collection is taking up too much space. While I can get slightly nostalgic for my old Rancid CD's, I don't want this shite lying around anymore as it's heavily disorganized (I was a messy kid). Even if I did want to listen to them, I don't own a CD player.

Should I pack them up and hide them away? Donate them? Sell them in bulk? Should I throw them out? I'm pretty sure they will never be worth anything. I sort of feel bad wanting to discard them all.

Get a nice big case so you can admire them.

Upload them all to your computer and give them to Goodwill or something.

I still use a lot of my cds because I haven't installed the aux cord since I started driving my current car. I have noticed how much more of a bitch it is to tote them around though. Me and my roommates have a few cases we keep in the living room to play over the stereo since its pretty old.

Put most in plastic sleeves in a binder and put them in my son's closet. Hopefully he'll go through them one day to experiment.

The others are collecting dust on a bookshelf.

Pretty much any stereo, even very old, can be hooked up to almost any audio source...Not sure I get why you'd have to use CDs.

I have some stashed in my desk at home. Some are in my truck. And the rest are still in my old closet at my dads house.

they're all in the same cd case I've had since middle school

I used them when I first got my truck and my aux cable broke, but I put in a new stereo that uses Bluetooth on my phone

I keep mine in books. I listen to them when I'm at home on my home stereo because the sound quality of mp3's really sucks. I use my iPod when I'm out and about or in my car, but at home, where portability is not an issue, I listen to records and CD's.

Anybody know what a store like 2nd and Charles gives for cd's? I'm sure it's not much, but it's better than selling them individually.

i can see prefering vinyl to mp3, but 99% of the population cannot tell the difference between an MP3 vs a CD, if its encoded at a decent bitrate (320 or V0).

to the OP, I have a suitcase of CDs that I lug around with me. everything I listen to is digital these days. its just easier. But I still lug around a suitcase.

I did whittle my collection down from 3000+ CDs to about 500. I sold some, I gave most of them away.

I've got four or five big books of them gathering dust in a closet.

I take it I'm not getting a lot of takers for my five CD carousel?
