I agree with him. The early 90s were better for mainstream music but just for music in general I enjoy the bands that have come out in the 2000s more of course there are a few exceptions.

I don't really disagree either. I love both decades about equally. I just have a feeling most people here won't agree at all.

I grew up in the 90's, but I don't think the 70's can be topped in regards to southern rock

mid to late 60's as far as rock goes will be hard to ever be topped.

Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, CCR, Skynyrd, Doobie Brothers and Pure Prairie League were all peaking in the mid 60's-mid 70's. I can't imagine how awesome it must have been to grow up back then

Maybe that was a stretch for me to say. Lets stick with the facts. The internet was around in the 90s but nobody really used it for music until the 2000s. The 2000s changed the music industry drastically. No longer did we have to rely on the radio or our circle of friends to tell us about good music. The 2000s opened the door for many more bands to be heard and discovered. Some will argue "quality over quantity" but quality is a matter of opinion. IMHO, the 2000s opened the floodgates for a ton of amazing bands to be heard. The radio may have been flooded with a bunch of crap, but that is irrelevant because the radio was no longer our connection to the world of music.

Ok lets just leave the word "Amazing out." The quantity of bands available to the general public increased in size by an enormous amount. That being said, the likelihood that there are more bands out there that a person may like also increased by a large amount.
I'm tempted to say that anyone saying that "all new music sucks and the [insert decade here] was the best" is just a sign of laziness. The good bands may not be spoon fed to you any more but they are out there, waiting to be discovered by you. This can't be completely true because everyone has their own opinion, but I feel there's a slight bit of truth in the statement.

Honestly, I love the 80s. Great, cheezy pop coupled with the grime of a fabulous underbelly: rap explodes, hardcore takes punk to the next level, indie/postpunk is essentially born as a genre, and all of it seeps a bit into the mainstream through MTV - which would seemingly put anything on the air for a brief period, including some truly out there art rock. Sure, there's the horrible stain of hair metal, but now that we're not exposed to millions of refugees from the Sunset Strip, it's a lot easier to deal with the silliness of glam in small doses.
80s music was just vibrant and diverse. It's like the machinery broke down for a few years.

I hate the 80s I can see where your coming from but I don't like early rap and I'm not a fan of hardcore in the slightest. That Glam shite is vomit set to a melody.
