Don’t forget about Luke Duke
He had another song called “cotton patch” I believe, but can’t find it.

Eric Heatherly
Had a hit in the late 90s with a remake of Flowers on the Wall, but then fell off the face of music.
Excellent guitarist

Bluegrass was an underappreciated genre for a long time.

Charlie Pride did it better.
And he i]s (was) very underrated.
In his time, he was very appreciated, at least in my neck of the woods. Early on, his label made it a point to hide his race(according to him) until he got pretty popular. My dad and Parrain were both big Charlie Pride fans back in the 60s & 70s.

One of my favorites, hard for me to see him as overrated.

Oh wait ... which country? Limited to USA? Canada? or Germany? Don't know if someone can be underrated if you've never heard them.

You're just naming country singers. There is nothing "underrated" about most of the ones you've listed. Some are even iconic country singers. Vern Gosdin was literally nicknamed "The Voice" for gods sake.

Here's someone I've only recently discovered - Wilma Burgess.
She was one of several trying to fill the vacuum left by the death of Patsy Cline. She had some pipes!
