1/9 is Tyler’s version of virtue signaling.

I disagree. I think his message is pretty well delivered and sincere.

Sincere, yes, but very opaque.

I don’t want game wardens shooting people for reaching into their tackle boxes to get their fishing license either.

Watched the whole thing. I agree it was very well delivered and sincere. It was also a load of horse shite. Like all woke (read delusional) people they completely gloss over the fact that the fact that 99% of the people being “brutalized” by police bring the trouble on themselves by their own behavior. They refuse to acknowledge personal responsibility and the horrific lifestyle choices and culture that breeds the behavior that leads to conflict with police in the first place. They refuse to look at FACTS and statistics that very plainly paint a picture completely different than the false narrative they have been brainwashed into accepting as the truth. In short, shut the frick and sing Tyler. Or play instrumentals or whatever. Cops are dicks. Don’t rape women, rob stores, commit drive bys, and break laws that put yourself in a situation where you have to interact with them. And if you do, don’t run, fight back, dive for weapons or any other such behaviors that may lead to your demise. Pretty simple concept.

On a lighter note, I got blitzed with Tyler and his drummer backstage at Hogs a few years ago. Really cool dude.

You have to take musicians' and other entertainers' social positions with grains of salt. These folks are doing whatever they can to keep their careers from being torpedoed, which is what happens if you take anything other than what is dictated by the media and the industry.

I've learned to totally separate artists' politics from their music in a lot of instances because I just can't trust their outward politics as being anything other than "towing the company line" in a way.

You can consider what songs they write. I mean come on..the record company isn't telling him what songs to write. They could try, and if they did that, he would be obligated to make it the worst song that they ever heard. If they are writing songs that have a clear political message, you can't really separate the politics from the music. I am just pointing that out as a general rule. I don't know anything about Tyler Childers or his music.

Lmao. Having a sane, rational view of the world instead of living in some over dramatic fair tale land of no personal accountability and made up crisis makes one a “racist redneck”. Maybe you’re the racist

She was wrongly killed by a stupid cop. Terrible, inexcusable situation in which swift , hard justice was needed for the cop who did it.

It's the worst that it's been since the last time it happened
It's happening again right in front of our eyes
There's updated footage, wild speculation
Tall tales and hearsay and absolute lies

Been passed off as factual when actually, the actual
Causes they're awkwardly blockin' the way
Keeping us all from enjoyin' our evening
Shoving its roots through the screens in our face

Now, what would you give if you heard my opinion
Conjecturin' on matters that I ain't never dreamed
In all my born days as a white boy from Hickman
Based on the way that the world's been to m??

It's called me bellig?rent, it's took me for ignorant
But it ain't never once made me scared just to be
Could you imagine just constantly worryin'
Kickin' and fightin', beggin' to breathe?

How many boys could they haul off this mountain
Shoot full of holes, cuffed and laid in the streets
Til we come in to town in a stark ravin' anger
Looking for answers and armed to the teeth?

Thirty aught sixes, Papaw's old pistol
How many, you reckon, would it be, four or five?
Oh, would that be the start of a long, violent history
Tuckin' our tails as we try to abide?

Would that be the start of a long, violent history
Tuckin' our tails as we try to abide?

I know what message that I'm getting from those lyrics, and it seems to me, that they ignore some inconvenient facts and statistics. Great lyrics and very well written, even if I don't agree with the message. That's politics though, and politics don't belong on a music forum.
