Those last two spots were really tough to decide on and could have easily went to Courtney Barnett, Kendrick Lamar, Father John Misty or Sleater-Kinney.
Sufjan is head and shoulders number one for me. Going to be tough for anything to top it for my AOTY, although Titus Andronicus may very well do it.

I honestly can't believe this gets so much love. It's a weird thing though, all those brilliant melodies, slowed way down in that Sufjan meditative-state style just works. The more you play it, the better it gets. I literally can't get it out of my brain.

This year isn't as strong as last year for me, but there is still time.
The war on drugs album blew me away. FJM has been a daily play for me, but not the same impact. Still giving the Surfjan album a run through, haven't listened to it in it's entirety yet.

The only album I've even gotten into listening to this year so far has been Faith No More - Sol Invictus and it's only been out for just a little bit.

That and +- by Mew are better than they'll be given credit for. They'll never be the trendy picks, but are stellar albums.

I just listened to this entire album for the first time and it is great. I was expecting Sedona and nothing else memorable, but there are another 4 or 5 songs that were fantastic.
Courtney Barnett's album is solid.(Pedestrian At Best is definitely one of my favorite songs of the year.)
I've listened to FJM and Surfjan a couple of times, but they haven't hooked me yet.
Not into Viet Cong at all.
MMJ is next on my list.

Close to my list, but I just can't get down with Carrie and Lowell. Lord knows I've tried. I've loved just about everything Sufjan has put out, but this album just isn't really enjoyable (to me).
The Donnie Trumpet album is up there for me as well as is Shamir's.
