I’m not asking if you like Journey the band or their songs. There seems to be no middle ground on Steve Perry as a vocalist. Do you think he is a great vocalist or do you not like hearing his voice?

Great range with just enough raspy crackle and blues flavor to remain entertaining. For a guy in front of a rock band, you would almost have to go to someone like Freddie Mercury to find a male voice more capable for the genre.

He is a great vocalist in the top tier definitely. Kind of shocked people don't like his voice.

While I find much of Journey’s catalog to be incredibly corny, Steve Perry is an absolute chad of a vocalist. Dude is amazingly talented, possibly one of the top 10 voices in rock n roll history. While I’m not a huge Journey fan, I completely understand why they are famous and why people like them.

Top 5 vocalist of all time IMO. Obviously he had his prime. He released 2 albums (1 X-mas album) in the last few years. I bought them and realized his voice is good but those albums will put anyone to sleep pretty quick.

Great vocalist… one of those that stands out and only enhances the song.

Not that he’s on same level, but memorable and standoutish the same way Mercury, Cornell, etc… are.

Cannot replace them and still call the band the same name.

It’s possible to separate hating Journey and Steve Perry being a good singer, Kafka.

Ironically, Journey appears to be the exception that proves this rule. The little Filipino replacement sounds MORE like Steve Perry than Steve Perry.
