I've often said that all the best music was made before I was born, so that's going to skew my thoughts, but if you had to name the perfect Rock song, which would you pick?

I thinking one that was innovative as a recording, but slays when played live. Maybe it's because of the quality of the song, but also maybe the talent of the band makes it great.

I settled on a handful that I think are in the discussion, and want to hear what the board thinks

Won't Get Fooled Again - The Who

Gimme Shelter - The Rolling Stones

Rock and Roll - Led Zepplin

Johnny B Good - Check Berry

Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne

Decent pick but I'll go with The Real Me.

We will, we will rock you!
*Boom boom clap
Boom boom clap*

I mean it says so right there in the lyrics. You know exactly what to expect and it delivers.

Throw a dart and a track listing including everything off Let There Be Rock, Powerage, and Highway to Hell, and chances are you hit one.

About half the tunes on Toys in the Attic from Aerosmith, Electric from The Cult, almost all of Appetite for Destruction get there for me.

Beyond that, it would take defining "rock." I love to throw on "Live Wire" or "Too Young to Fall in Love" by the Crue or "A Beginner's Guide to Suicide" by Orange Goblin, for instance, but I'm not sure they're "rock" in the strictest sense even if, for me, they scratch the same itch as other more classic fare. Hell, "Cowboys from Hell" is another one that I'm as likely to throw on as "Foreplay/Long Time" for a sound track to the exact same mood.

More Than a Feeling - Boston

Got everything. Great intro and verses, catchy chorus, killer singing, and a melodic solo that sets the stage for the ending. Really, that whole album is a master class in rock songwriting and production.

Good one. I couldn’t think which would have been the best Boston song but that is it.

I'm gonna have to agree with whoever said Crue's Live Wire. That whole album, really, is raw rock n roll at its finest.
