Completely different genres of rock. I like both but definitely different in their own way

I haven't listened to either but I'm gonna guess the new KSE will not put me to sleep.

Almost every time I hear someone on this board recommend a band I have never heard of it is a huge disappointment. Having said that, I like what I heard from Killswitch Engage...but I have to agree with the guy above that said this isn't really competing with Tool in anyway. Completely different mindsets. I get not liking Tool, but you either like them or you don't. The two bands sound nothing like each other. They are a ton better than most of the cookie monster metal that everyone loves so damn much around here though.

I absolutely love Undertow and Aenima, but I honestly couldn’t make it through the new song once.

I was underwhelmed by the new Tool song. We shall see how the new album is. I hope it's better than the last A Perfect Circle record because that was straight garbage.

I'm listening to Tool today - Opiate and now the Holy Gift version of Lateralus.

Sonofabitch that was a great rock and roll band back in the day.

KSE is the metal version of Nickelback. Bro-cheese-rock. The audio version of an affliction shirt

Not at all, that would be FFDP. Their album covers do resemble affliction shirts though.

^ all of this

i love tool. undertow & lateralus are absolute fricking masterpiece albums to my tastes (not that the other albums suck, they certainly do not). they put on an incredible live show (and have done so for decades) as well. i'm hopeful & excited about the new album. this "new" track, which doesn't sound remotely "new" to me, is totally underwhelming. hopefully it'll grow on me.

yea I never understand the need to crap on one band that's different than an other.

I love KSE and I love Tool. No one is pointing a gun to my head making me choose one or the other
