The Getaway is a great album. Meanwhile, Trickfinger & Trickfinger 2, is complete garbage. Just like his whole solo career. Saying you like Empyrean, is like saying Jackson Pollock was a real artist. We can talk about how sophisticated we are, but it still looks like someone had the runs while standing over a canvas.

I mean maybe as solo it is no good but he was the best guitarist the RHCP ever had.

The Empeyran is a great album. I agree that I'm not a big fan of the Trickfinger stuff, but some of the stuff off of PBX and Letur Lefur were great.
I also love Josh in the band, he was the only person that could have possibly replaced John. I love The Getaway and IWY, but the best stuff from the Josh era is "I'm Beside You" or the B-sides from I'm With You. One of my favorite albums of all time.

John, like most great artists, is a strange dude. That being said, he was a guitar god the night of Live at Slane Castle.
