re: T or F. Fleetwood Mac would be considered 100x band without that other woman singing

Love this backstage clip of Stevie blowing the doors off Wild Heart, I think harmonies are coming from that Christine McVie

some great backing vocals for Lindsey and Stevie in others
Correct. Her harmonies with LB set the foundation for many of their best songs and biggest hits.

Hard to believe Fleetwood Mac only had one number one song. They have so many great songs!

Was never a Fleetwood Mac fan growing up, I didn't hate it, but just wasn't anything I listened to intentionally.
A few years ago, my sister-in-law gets tickets to a FM tribute band (Rumors) coming thru town and invites us. I wasn't terrible excited. I actually really enjoyed it, I didn't realize I knew nearly every song and that the tribute band was really freaking good. Sounded just like FM.

But Bob Welch before Stevie was no slough either.

I’m not big on Christine’s voice I find it very flat. But she competed with Stevie Nicks which is my all time fav female vocalist.
She was extremely talented musician and you’re an idiot for calling her an attention whore.

This and Prince's guitar solo on While my guitar gently weeps, two of the greatest live performances ever

That other woman was a better singer and song writer.

I wish I could give you 100x downvotes for this post. I guess you’re trolling, possibly or just ignorant. Christine Perfect/McViewas integral part of Fleetwood Mac for multiple albums prior to Buckingham/Nicks joining the band. She brought not only a great keyboard sound, but was a great writer. Her voice is definitely more pure than Nicks, but its sweetness conveyed such a different tone that helped Nicks stand out even more.

Of all the shitty music takes, this might be the shittiest.
1. Christine was in the band first
2. She was a prolific songwriter
3. She was the lead or co-lead on 20 songs, and 9 of them were top 20.

Chrstine McVie? "Attention hoe?" The woman was always posed at the far left of the band set up, hardly noticeable. (you're kidding, right?)
CM was the glue. Lindsey Buckingham was the soul. Stevie Nix ought to thank her lucky start for LB and CM carrying her.
Yeah, Stevie's voice and style was very distinct. Especially in the "early days" (Fleetwood Mac, 1975 and Rumors.) But she lacking range. Couldn't play any instrument. And her writing was redundant.
It helped her immensely to have her vocals contrasted by both Buckingham and Christine's own unique harmony vocals. Without the harmonies and Lindsey Buckingham's tasty guitar licks and work, Nix's vocals eventually .... started to sound like a sick, nauseous goat. And her "witchy" shtick became too pretentious.

A fundamental misunderstanding of the Fleetwood Mac/Buckingham Nicks merger.
The whole was greater than the sum of the parts. Was it drug- and drama-fueled? Yes. Was it a little too commercial at times? Probably.
Did the "classic" line up of post-Green Fleetwood Mac have 3 exceptional songwriters who were also great singers? Yes. More importantly, their voices blended extremely well in the harmonies. Their capabilities as a singing trio are sometimes lost because they were competing with CSN and The Eagles who could deliver some very fine harmonies themselves.
While Stevie wasn't much of an instrumentalist, Buckingham and McVie were excellent musicians and understood the voice as an instrument above all. This served them well whether they were lead, sharing lead or merely harmony for a particular song.
I get that it is bland music for bland people, but you need that in the commercial space. They also produced some of the most memorable "relationship drama" songs of that era. And, for my money, Buckingham may be the single most underrated musician of that entire scene. A self-taught, claw style lead electric player, he was almost the American Mark Knopfler. I can't imagine how that isn't a compliment.

The background vocals on that song are from Sharon Celani and Lori Perry.
