I just don't care for him on a personal level.
I still enjoy his music. I think he takes himself very seriously. I've never had a positive encounter with him and I've had a few. We have a lot of mutual friends, but oh well

I do too. Hell I rocked "Here We Rest" today, he just rubs me wrong. I've never personally met the guy but I've gathered the same conclusion about him as you and liking the person has a lot to do with whether I'm going to support the music.
For instance a friend of mine shared a flight with Jimmy Herring and Todd Nance of Widespread Panic, bullshitted and drank with him all the way from Atlanta to Denver and he claims they are just as humble and down to earth as your average farmer, carpenter etc. That is how a musician should behave in my opinion and when they don't I lose mass amounts of respect for them.

Only contribution I have on Isbell is that I remember when he first started with DBTs and was about 150 lbs heavier... That is all.
Fat people are usually more jolly, he should put it back on.

Drivin' N' Cryin'/Kevn Kinney is still "touring" to these type of venues.
Let's have a true retro night with these guys.

I finally got to see them at SXSW and had the pleasure of meeting Ben. Awesome guy and a hell of a show. They would do well at the Varsity.

I don't care for the new album, but they used to be my favorite band ever.

OCMS
Gary Clark Jr.
Modest Mouse, if possible, my dream band. I'd take them over just about anyone else out right now.
