Haven't seen him mentioned yet, but Tommy Lee on Dr Feel-good and Girls, Girls, Girls. He's a fairly one dimensional drummer, but he can really propel a song with such energy. He just hits the drums in a way that sets him apart, no matter how simple the beat is.
I love Charlie Watts and Steven Alder too. Overshadowed within their bands, but such a vital ingredient.

Seasons in the Abyss by Slayer. I know it's easy to just say "Dave Lombardo", but he brings it even in a ballad-esque type of Slayer song.

Not sure on drum machines, but I also like Stewart Copeland and Budgie's drumming in Siouxsie and the Banshees.
I saw Budgie with Sioxsie's side project "Creatures" at the Masquerade in Atlanta years ago do a drum solo where he had mounted different drums all around the walls of the stage and ran around playing them during the song. He is a highly underrated player.

Check out a band that was from the MS Gulf Coast called Atomship. Drummer is phenominal. Start with the songs Pencil Fight and Friends. Funny that both them an 3 Doors Down came out of the same small general area in MS.

Clem has problems keeping a beat at times. I think you mean you´re amazed with his incessant diarrhea fills.
Don´t get me wrong, I like him a lot, however, the truth is the truth.
