Or vice verse.

The Smiths' "Rusholme Ruffians" begins fairly upbeat musically, but Morrissey then delivers a thoroughly depressing story of violence, robbery, contemplative suicide and loneliness.

"A boy is stabbed and his money is grabbed, and the air hangs heavy like a dulling wine."

I’m a sucker for this type of juxtaposition in a song.

How about songs where the lyrics are creepy as hell but the music is irresistibly bouncy and happy?

Springsteen's Born in the USA is always what I think of here.

Music is upbeat and got used in Reagan's campaign. Actual lyrics are depressing and paint a very different picture.

Crazy how many suburban soccer moms used to turn up Semi Charmed Life in the late 90s without even peeking at or digesting a single lyric.
