Jane’s Addiction - Up the Beach/Ocean Size
— absolute WTF beginning to an album. I had never heard anything like it before or since.

I felt that way after seeing them live before I even knew who they were. They opened for Love & Rockets at Tips. I was expecting some totally different than what I witnessed.

whats even more insane is they had the bulk of the material for both 'nothing shocking' and 'ritual' already written and being performed live in 1985.

1985. let that sink in.

in the sense that it broadened the spectrum for me, i walked out of Leisure Landing in 1971 (i think) with the live POCO album and The Yes Album. Still two sturdy branches in my music tree.

Van Halen I. I knew it was a guitar making those sounds but had no concept how it was done. Especially the finger tapping solos. It was like hearing an alien language for the first time

I was all about hair bands. It's all I listened too.

One day my friend played Kill'Em All and I never listened to hair bands again.

The Pusher-Steppenwolf

Totally misconstrued by just about everyone above the age of 20. Band tried to play it in concert in Monroe and cops shut it down immediately.

Hocus Pocus -Focus

Surprised no one has mentioned this song yet, unlike anything this ole rocker had heard at the time.

It was National Vinyl day last week. Went and found some for a quick pic. Lost and Found was in there somewhere.
