Was just listening to an Uncle Tupelo song on XM. Elizabeth Cook comes on afterwards, lamenting the breakup and says there are now two types of people in the world, Son Volt or Wilco people. She’s a Son Volt person and so am I. frick Tweedy and that artsy fartsy nerd pop bullshite.

Hahahaha.

Nobody even know who the frick son volt is.

We ALL know who won that breakup. As soon as tweedy got away from farrar, he excelled.

besides Farrar is kinda nerdy too..but Trace in it's purist folk songs juxtaposed with Neil Young type rockers kind puts a whoopass on anything "indy" that Ive heard.

This is so fricking wrong

Son Volt, of course. While I like some of Tweedy's work, he's a real POS.

We’ve done this thread before. As I recall most everyone seems to prefer Son volt except that clueless yankee above. And he’s from New Jersey so his opinion is invalid. Son Volt’s music is immensely better.

Son Volt had Trace and Straightaways before they went downhill whereas Wilco just had AM. But a friend of mine played on AM and still gets royalties......I still have to go with Son Volt but its a close call.

I like both but I dig the artsy fartsy nerd pop bullshite better.

I also have a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth after seeing Son Volt play at a local music festival a few years ago. This is a small folk and bluegrass festival held outdoors and having Son Volt as a headliner was a major get. In truth this gig probably was beneath them. But all Jay did through the whole performance was make fun of the venue. The music was fantastic but I got tired of hearing him badmouth the idea of playing in a small meadow in a beautiful forest setting in Colorado. If you have a problem with the venue, take it up with your booking agent, be professional and try to offer a good performance even though you're too good for it.

Correct. Outlaw country
programmed by little steven, who also does the awesome underground garage

I just listened to LS's interview on the maron podcast. the opening political section almost drove me to kill puppies, but after that it was very interesting, especially re the jersey shore scene of the seventies.
