So lame. It's all out there. All you have to do is read.

I listen to Tweedy weekly BTW. Here's a couple for the Wilco fans,

Golden Smog - Pecan Pie
Jeff Tweedy - Ballad of the Opening Band

Wilco is a vastly superior band and it isn’t even close. Son Volt had a few good songs. Wilco has a few great albums.

Wilco's body of work is so much more impressive (even if th quality of their output has nosedived in the last several albums... I think Ghost was the last album of theirs I really loved).

Son Volt, though, has a raw, consistent quality to the music. Definitely stayed in their wheelhouse and didn't change much over time.

If you've never heard/seen [link=(the story of Tweedy and Farrar on vacation in Mexico)]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukOEXaGIQLw[/link], it's worth watching.

Sorry if im not concerned about something that happen when they were 18-19 years old or the fact that jay farrar stayed in Uncle Tupelo for a few years after the incident and then claimed thats why he wanted out of the band.

I mean, it worked out great for jeff in the long run and his song writing success has been all his own.

I just find it interesting that every time a wilco discussion comes up you shite all over tweedy like you have an axe to grind.

You see what you want to see. You ignore all the positives I say about his work. I have nothing positive to say about the person. It's that way with lots of artists and actors though. REM is probably my favorite band, and I would search hard to find something positive to say about Stipe. Can't stand any of the Truckers. Love their music.

You're kind of a douche btw. Do you write music?

The songs you can pick off from Farrar are just better than "indy" music in general. But for indy music that just drones on, Wilco is one of my favorites.

"maybe all i need is a shot in the arm..." repeat 1000 times and clever song

"Jet Pilot" is a classic irreverent political rock and roll tune

and that's not even one of the ultragreat ones from the Farrar songs

Holy shite, dude. The rest of the lyrics to that song are amazeballs. Yes, it repeats that line a bunch but just the opening line of "The ashtray says you were up all night" is poetry.

And something in my veins bloodier than blood is also badass.

There is no telling how many times I listened to Summerteeth that year.

The transition of tweedys songwriting between being there and summerteeth was jarring and super exciting at the same time. I remember being amazed by it.

One of my favorite things about wilco outside of tweedys songwriting is the evolution from album to album and their willingness to change and not remain stagnant.

Totally agree that is what makes them awesome. Unfortunately, it's also why they've kind of lost me. Sky Blue Sky was the last album of theirs I really loved, though I'll admit that Star Wars definitely had appeal for a bit just because it was so different and seemed fresh while also being kind of a throwback.

Son Volt, easily. One of my top bands. Wilco I don't hate - they are better than 95% of the stuff out there now. But I never have any real desire to play their music either.
