Yep. I definitely won't buy this album, or any tickets to this tour. I may refuse to support any future tours or albums. I HATE listening to musicians drone on and on about politics. It is really a dick move to spoonfeed propoganda to a captive audience who just wants to hear your songs. It's why I don't go to Ted Nugent, Bruce Springsteen, or Greenday shows. When artists start trying to "make a statement" with their music and get overly political, I tune out.
The only real exception is Rage Against the Machine for some reason.
LMAO
The dude made one song, which isn't even saying anything bad, and people are crying over it. And people say liberals are soft? Hell, I lean more right than left, but both sides annoy the shite out of me. This is comical to me. He is a great artist. Y'all mad at Sturgill for having Trump in his video for 'All Around You'?

Can't we all just talk about how great the Disco Biscuits are?

have you listened to Bob Dylan or Neil Young? it's music if you don't like the song you hit the next button.

Had a BLM sign up at his Nashville show.
Just saw a video of him playing whipping post in Asheville and didn't see one. Maybe it was a one time thing. I know Drive By Truckers have one up at every show now, though.

Politics is generally toxic to music.
Okay, you're just trolling.

Soft would be calling for Isbell to be banned from performing, having his record deal pulled, protesting outside his concerts. I'm just going to patronize and listen to a different artist. No big deal, no real harm done. It's the difference between responding to something you don't agree with on tv by changing the channel verses calling the station to demand it be taken off of the air. I'd rather just watch something else.

Yes. Dylan was really creative in how he worked in politics and philosophy into his music. It's fairly subtle and masterfully done. It becomes a commentary without being a lecture.
Neil Young has never been an artist I cared for. I don't like his voice, very high, thin, and whiny. His song "Southern Man" is pretty insulting and ignorant to boot. Crosby, Stills, & Nash was better off without him.

That's what I'm doing. I'm just going to go see other concerts buy other albums instead.

What was ignorant about it?

I'm curious about this as well.

Young admitted Alabama was pretty condescending in tone, so I'd give him that. Southern Man is pretty straightforward though.

It explicitly implies that every southern man is an evil racist slave driver/klansman that desires to kill any black man who mates with a white woman.

I actually like the song, but it is absolutely insulting to white men living in the South in that era.

The title of the song is Southern MAN, not Southern MEN.

Explicitly implicit, eh?

So you think that song is about a particular person?

I think it's about a wider group but I also think a lot of posters get overboard thinking it's about every single person, themselves included, in these conversations.
