Again. Nobody in this thread is comparing the two bands. The people that think people are comparing the two are the exhausting music snobs that think they know better than everyone else.
My thread is essentially like asking people do you like college football or the NFL better, MLB or NBA?
Music people are by far the worst of being judgmental and telling people what they can and can’t do.
Music is the opposite. It pushes limits, makes people think, we should compare each genre of music and that leads to new genres of music.
But god forbid you compare two rock bands lol.

In their current iteration "The Rolling Stones Geriatric Cover Band" is their status.

However, I agree with your current take on them. IMO they haven't done anything interesting since Voodoo Lounge.
Who wants to pay and watch 80-year-olds cosplaying as The Rolling Stones. How much money does The Glimmer Twins need?

I agree
Once Charlie passed, it was over.
They need to accept that.

You basically asked us to compare them

By any objective measure LZ is better than Sabbath but doesn't mean I don't like Sabbath. Led Zeppelin just wrote stuff Sabbath could never pull off. Sabbath as great as they are were kind of a one-trick pony.
Led Zeppelin is its own unique thing and stands apart. There is no other band that sounds like LZ. Plenty of bands sound like Sabbath but no one sounds like Led Zeppelin.

You've obviously never listened to Black Sabbath.

Should be easy enough to prove this. Just quote where I said to compare the bands.
In my OP I asked who do you like better.
I find it hilarious though people are trying to say YOU CAN’T DO THIS… like it’s some sort of blasphemy.
Some people like Michael Jackson better than Metallica, some people like Guns N Roses better than Prince, some people like Run DMC better than U2 and guess what? It’s ok.
Music snobs are the worst.

I like Zep better. I think Zep was a better band. I've always liked Sabbath, but was more of a hits guy with them until the tribute concert. Since then, I've gone back and listened to the whole Ozzy catalogue.
I learned a few things about Sabbath.
1. They were heaaaavy especially for the time, but not always.
2. They were proggy at times, but not always.
3. Metallica likely doesn't exist w/o them. Many bands owe a whole lot to them.
4. Bill Ward was a bad man. Never really thought about him until recently.
5. If Ozzy came up with his melodies, he's a genius.
I appreciate Sabbath much more now.
Also, the Dio albums were really, really good.

Very different bands. Hard to compare. A better battle would be Led vs The Who.

Zep.

The Who
I thought both lead singers sucked, both guitarists were really good, but The Who's rhythm section was far better.

Heaven and Hell is criminally underrated. I mean its one of their best albums.

Great comments/observations. I got into Sabbath by listening to Live Evil. Still enjoy the hell out of that album to this day. And RJD was the first rock concert I attended - The Last in Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine concert. Did get to see the original lineup on the reunion tour.

Both are obviously all-time great bands. For me though, Sabbath has aged better. I still listen to Sabbath and think it's great. I have not listened to Zeppelin in decades and just wouldn't enjoy it anymore. Pink Floyd falls into the same category -- great band, great music, but I just can't deal with it anymore. They are the past and lack something for me now.

I've never seen Sabbath or Ozzy or Dio. I will say that I heard Live Evil on vinyl in the early 80's at my cousin's house. I thought DIo was their only singer at the time. Learned later about Ozzy. I will say the first 2 Ozzy albums are very important to me, but those first 2 Dio albums aren't far behind.
The 2 Dio/Sabbath albums are much better than the last 2 Ozzy/Sabbath albums. Not even close really.
Led Zep was very important to me in the 90's. I listened to them non-stop for years. I still love them, but rarely listen anymore. I proably should revisit.
I've been on this huge Ozzy/Sabbath kick recently due to what happened. I can't get enough right now.

I don't really like the "who is better" question, but I'm going Zeppelin. Iommi and Ozzy were great. You could make an argument they're top tier with Plant and Page.
That being said, as good as Ward and Butler were, they aren't in the same ballpark as JPJ and Bonham. JPJ is a flat out musical genius and for my money, Bonham is the GOAT.
Not to slight Sabbath at all because I love their early stuff but Zeppelin takes the cake for me.

Growing up in the late 60’s / early 70’s my big 4 were, in no certain order, Zep, Sabbath, Deep Purple and Grand Funk.
There were plenty of others but the early albums of those 4 groups were so influential on my musical tastes to this day

Zeppelin. Think they also have a bit more variety in sound.
Love both hands tho. Both elite guitar players

I also thought Zep was better.
