Meanwhile the Gallaghers flashing tributes to him during Live Forever.

Who would’ve guessed they’d become the nice ones from England

Waters is a cock by nearly every account I've read from those who know him. He cries about political oppression while owning mansions in the Hamptons and vacationing on exclusive Greecian isles. The guy is a prick.

He hates Jews and loves Putin. He is probably a favorite on the Poli Board.

God Ginger Baker sucked. He always seemed like a bully prick who just needed his jaw broken.

I've heard the breakup of Cream was largely because of the constant scraps between Baker and Jack Bruce, and the fact that Eric Clapton grew tired of having to get between them.

There was a documentary about few years back where a reporter went down to South Africa to interview Baker. He was a miserable guy even as a recluse in his final years.

Even with all of that, I'd put Roger in first place for most unlikable rock star since he's more visible, vocal, controversial, and insulting. He's also been married five times...so he can't even get along with those closest to him.

I love Waters' contributions to the music world, but many of his opinions make him totally unlikable as a human being.

Yeah. At least Baker was a recluse. You had to find him to ask question and take abuse. Waters seems people out and spews on things few are asking about. Just don’t be a miserable prick.

I think it’s a Bill Burr bit. About how being a celebrity lowers the bar on decency needed to be a great Guy. “Good morning”. Oh wow did you hear that. Bill Burr is so down to earth. Salt of the earth guy!!

i am reminded of a line from an old Thin Man movie, where a character is disparaging another who had recently been murdered

when questioned why he was being so critical of a dead man, he replied, “as far as i can tell, death didn’t endow him with any new virtues, did it?”

points for Waters’ honesty

btw, my aunt flew across the Atlantic next to him back in 1977 or so, she thought he was a “pleasant young Englishman”

Here’s a good Waters story. When he did the Wall shows for the Berlin Wall coming down, Neil Peart heard about it and he really liked Floyd and thought it would be a really once in a lifetime experience. This was very unlike Peart but he reached out to Waters and said hey if you need a drummer I’d like to be involved.

Waters said no, we’ve got somebody.

What an idiot. Who you gonna have as good as that and he just drops in your lap. Unreal.

You're wrong. Dark side of the Moon stayed on the charts from it's release in 1973 until the year 2024. Literally, decades. That's not the hallmark of a band that's overrated. You may not like them, that's your prerogative, Bobby B., but their enduring popularity across generations says they're not overrated.

Public opinion is not a measure of whether something is overrated. People follow others' opinions often without thinking. They just repeat and do if for no other reaaon than to avoid sticking out.

Your opinion of their music isn’t a measure of Floyd being overrated. Think what you like, it has no bearing on what others believe. You’re posting contrarian nonsense in a trolly manner.

Then what is/are the measure(s) of being overrated as a band/musical act?

It's not solely an opinion of their music it's an opinion that suggests they are talked about and hyped more than should be. Don't conflate overrated with bad. That's not what im saying.

I understand that. It is just another opinion.

If swimming upstream a little is trolly, well, it's not meant to be.
