RIP you beautiful soul. By all accounts a wonderful, generous human being. Americana at its finest. Generosity might have been her greatest virtue; almost all under-the-radar, no virtue signaling. Dolly epitomized this rarity amongst celebrities.

She was one of the kindest souls in existence and with a voice of a angel.
And can I just say 2026 cannot end soon enough?

My father was a member of her band in the mid 70’s.

So sorry to hear. I've been a fan since her days with Porter Wagoner. I'm sure she wouldn't be offended by this, but I thought as long as there were plastic surgeons Dolly would be around.

One of the most underappreciated pure voices ever.
And it fit across multiple genres and song types.
Just in the last few years she appeared on Christian duo For King and Country's God Only Knows, bluegrass musician Daniel Grindstaff's version of Forever Young, and Bela Fleck's In The Pines.

One of my favorite things she ever did was when she released that rock album to be legit because she was inducted into the Rock Hall. Her Purple Rain cover was beautiful.

Dolly was universally loved, even in our community. The best compliment I ever heard about her was from my Uncle Dug (who was a dyed in the wool racist): “If all white folk were like Dolly, black folk and white folk would be all right with each other.” My late wife was a true fan, and I hope she’s in the receiving line welcoming Dolly to Heaven!
