Never met a famous musician, but back in the mid-80s I was invited to Jimmy Buffet's mama's home near Fairhope.
Apparently, Ms. Peets Buffet was taking some courses at South Alabama and a friend of mine was in the same class. They were getting together at Ms. Peets house to compare notes for an upcoming exam. My friend didn't want to drive alone, so I jumped at the chance to go with her. Got to see all of the gold records on the wall.

I see Clint Black from time to time (friends with his family here in Houston). He's as nice as can be.

I was working on another rich dude's house ... Dave Mathews ... He gave me backstage tickets to his shows at The Gorge for my tip.

Something about him assuming you're a fan strikes me as egotistical.

I didn't get that from him at all, but I wouldn't call myself a fan. He's just a regular dad as far as I can tell,

Was his pick up line “Hi my name is Andy Gibb”?

In 94’ … had a weekend fling with the lead singer of an all female rock band playing Lollapalooza. That year, the festival stopped for two days in Atlanta. The first night, we jumped in a car with Nick Cave and headed to see a club show with George Clinton. The next day, I shot some hoops with the Beasties backstage and watched the pumpkins from the side of the stage. Pretty heady stuff for a 21 yo.

Ended up staying friends with her for years and met many musicians in the process — Buzz from the Melvins, Sublime lead singer etc.

so how was Suzi?

eta L7 used to come to houston and play at EMOs and the white dreaded bartender who every alterna-girl in houston was drooling over was doing everything except stand on his head to get her attention.

pretty sure she blew him off each time but it was funny watching him go from 'cool guy everyone wants to know' to 'pathetic guy chasing someone around who wasn't intersted'.

America - Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell. They played at the Carolina Opry a couple of years ago. It was a makeup from a prior cancellation. Sunday afternoon - started at 6, played straight thru 2 hours. Mrs. ClusterCock and I decide to go to the Marriot Ocean front for a drink and lo and behold Gerry and Dewey walk in. They are staying at the Marriot. We sat and talked with them for an hour. Nice guys, very down to earth.

That was all that was necessary.
It was quite a party going on in there that night.

I met him in 1979 in Chicago. He played two sets back to back days at Chicago fest at Navy Pier.

I had just started working in radio. .... sparingly

Really nice guy . ....and believe it or not, his band was killer.

I personally love Jennifer Finch. Saw L7 two years ago in Nashville opening night of the 30th anniversary Bricks are Heavy tour. On the rail Donita and Jennifer looked at me. Jennifer looked right at me during the last song and I froze.

So you hooked up with Donita Sparks? That would’ve been during her long black hair days.

I managed to get backstage with leftover salmon in Athens in the 90's and passed cigarettes around.

Also in the 90's, I forget which year, it was late 90's, Phish played a show at Lakewood in ATL on my birthday and Mike Gordon pulled up on his golf cart to chat in the lot and stole my date, asked her to hop in, and just rode of with her.

Happy birthday to me.

Met Little Richard a long time ago when he had quit, "doing devil music", (his words) and took up preaching . I asked him if he was Little Richard and he told me he was Rev Richard Wayne Penniman and here to lead a revival.

That period of his life did not last long.
