I don’t even know which bands are popular to be honest, most that I’ve seen on this thread are recognizable and perhaps hit the mainstream at some point but are by no means anything but 98.1 filler with no real following.
Example, ppl here listing The Grateful Dead as a popular band is laughable, most people would struggle to name more than a song or two of theirs.

I love the classic Rush run (through Signals) and I've always hated Fly By Night (song; the album's great). Same goes for Closer To The Heart.
