Never got to see one of their shows. Did they really only charge $17?

I mean, that's low, but not crazy out of phase with the era. I think the Guns n Roses tickets for the PMAC show in Jan 1992 list price was like $29.

$15-$20 was about the norm in '93 to see an arena show.

Yup. Today's prices are outrageous. Pearl Jam, for all of their annoyances, warned us about this. We didn't listen, and now ticketmaster as destroyed affordable tickets.

Was looking at Tool tickets. Expensive but yeah OK.....then the actual cost was about $200 higher because of the fees.

Yup. It's why I don't go to many concerts anymore. It's ridiculous to be paying that much money for a show. The ticket prices on their own are way too high, but then the stupid TM fees are more than the tickets in some cases.

Don't go to arena shows which are rarely worth it. I still pay in the $20 range for shows at small venues and $30 for shows at 500 person venues.

Value of $17 from 1993 to 2022
$17 in 1993 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $32.80 today, an increase of $15.80 over 29 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 2.29% per year between 1993 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 92.94%.

This means that today's prices are 1.93 times higher than average prices since 1993, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics consumer price index. A dollar today only buys 51.83% of what it could buy back then.

The inflation rate in 1993 was 2.99%.

$32 is still super cheap to see a band as popular as nirvana was in 1993

Bands used to actually sell there music in a physical form. Now they make $0.003 per stream. Now bands have to make their money off touring and merchandise at concerts.

Even back then they made little money off of record/cd sales. More than now of course, but their main source of revenue was touring. Record companies screw over bands.

Agree but you are missing out on a lot of bands. I think the Tabernacle in Atlanta is perfect.
