re: Nickelback wasn’t as bad as people made them out to be

Hating Nickelback = “Cool”. The End.
Don’t know why. We’re they Led Zepplin? Of course not. Not even close. They were just part of what took over after the Seattle guys got too old for the masses or started dying.
There are so many bands from that period after Grunge. So many that had an album then broke up. Maybe that’s part of the hate. The band kids in 1999-2004 picked as their faves broke up or flaked out. And Nickelback kept grinding.

This is so wrong. Chevelle, Slipknot, SOAD all kept grinding for years and didn't get hate. Nickleback is just uninteresting music.

These are some fringe bands, no?
Slipknot especially. Combo thrash and death metal while dressed like GWAR.
Your reply shows more of your specific taste in music. Slipknot can’t feed the masses. Just like Metallica couldn’t in the 80’s.
I’d need to be reminded of what Chevelle is and how heavy. I honestly do not know.

Nickelback > Greta van Fleet

They’re not all that different from the other bands listed. Maybe somewhere in between something like nickelback and skipknot

80 million and 40 million in sales respectively, Google says. And thanks for helping me make my point.

I wish I sucked like that.
Selling 40-80 million doesn't automatically disqualify a bands as being sucky; however having to play bad music everyday would suck (bad).

They weren't bad, but something about their sound got old. Fast. Same thing with FFDP.

Yep, like telling the algorithm no and still having to do it again and again.
The same old same old, that you grew tired of fast.

nickelback became a very formulaic band, playing the same progressions in the same keys. they knew where their bread was buttered and made a lot of money playing songs that were catchy but repetitive.

Don’t lie, Photograph is your favorite song.

Id rather listen to the lollipop guild song from the wizard of oz on repeat

I would call Chevelle a Tool derivative if Tool was just a rock band.
Slipknot was/is a damn fine band. You can strip a lot of their songs down to Corey and an acoustic and they are good songs.
I just can't get past Serj's voice on SOAD. I hate it.

I saw them in concert once for work, and I admit they were an entertaining live band. I still dislike all of their music, but they do know how to write formulaic rock that appeals to a pop audience. Imagine Dragons are the 2010s version of Nickelbag
Posted on 9/7/22 at 5:02 pm to SelaTiger
Nickelback is the country pop of 2000s metal.

They’re cheesy 2000s pop grudge rock but they’re better than imagine dragons
