Waylon Jennings played bass (?) for Buddy Holly.
Johnathan Cain played with The Babys before Journey.
Rickey Medlocke played with Blackfoot before Skynrd (and I think he was part of the original Skynyrd lineup).

Chris Hillman and David Crosby were in the Byrds together. Both went on to other things.

Steve is another who's been in a bunch of bands. Frank Zappa, Alcatrazz, David Lee Roth, Whitesnake. I just saw him recently with SATCHVAI Band. I missed seeing Beat with Steve, Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, and Danny Carey.

Oh ok, my bad, I re-read it! HB was actually the only album J Tillman worked on with them. It’s my favorite of theirs but I’d never argue someone favoring the first&ep.

Whitesnake was the 80's hair metal band that it seemed like everybody kind of floated in and out of...

Tommy Shannon played on two Johnny Winter albums, went into a drug/prison spiral, then came back to play with SRV, got strung out again with SRV, then they both got clean, the helicopter crash happened, and he continued to play with some other well-known artists and was auditioned by the Rolling Stones to replace Bill Wyman, but didn't' get the gig.

Randy Rhoads co-founded Quiet Riot in 1973 alongside bassist Kelly Garni. He was the band's original lead guitarist, playing on their first two albums, Quiet Riot (1977) and Quiet Riot II (1978), which were originally released only in Japan. He left the band in 1979 to join Ozzy Osbourne.

In high school, he played in a band called "The Legends", along with friends Bobby Braddock, Kent LaVoie (also known as Lobo) and Gram Parsons (of the Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers).
- Braddock wrote multiple #1 hits including "D-I-V-O-R-C-E" and "He Stopped Loving her Today".
- Lobo had multiple hit including "I'd Love You To Want Me" and "Me and You and A Dog Named Boo".
- Gram Parson was at the forefront of the Country-Rock movement.
- And Jim Stafford carved out a career making novelty records.

Came in here to post this. I remember him from "Don't Shed A Tear" in 1988. I liked his voice. I never put it together until years later that he sang "How Long","Tempted", "Silent Running", and "The Living Years". I don't know how I didn't catch his voice.

I went to a G3 show back in 2001 with Vai, Satriani, and John Petrucci. A bunch of great musicians playing that show with Mike Portnoy, Mike Keneally, Virgil Donati, Billy Sheehan, etc., etc.
